General Chat / MPEG to MP3?

Does anyone know how to convert mpegs to mp3's?
I really need to know this.

That kinda sounds like asking to convert a video file into a music file... which is weird. I'll assume you meant how to rip music from an mpeg file and turn the music into an MP3. Or I guess turning mpeg audio files (which I've rarely come across) to MP3's...

I think Adobe Premiere can do it if you put the MPEG in and export audio. Or Camtasia Studio might. But those are both costly programs.

iris, do you realise that mp3 is from mpeg?
mp3 = mpeg1/2 sound layer3. so if you're having an .mpeg file that's sound only, then it very much seems like an old file to me which is mpeg1 with a sound layer below 3.
get winamp's filewriter plugin. it's very useful und very fast. www.winamp.com, i'd guess. more comfortable though will be just catching me on aim and i'll send it over.
