(Archive) Advertising District / Montgomery Trolley & Train Park

Inspired by a local trolley museum (w/ a working trolley ride), I decided to create one in RCT2. This park expands on the concept to include not only trolley's, but steam trains.

The park initially opens with a trolley ride, a steam train ride, a trolley & train musuem, a trolley car barn, a trolley documentary cinema, and a picnic area. The trolley car barn houses 12 different trolley cars from different parts of the world. There are snow sweepers, streamliners, closed motors, PCC's, and semi-convertable cars.

Later, after an infusion of capital from investors, the park adds a small amusement area in the back. Like the trolley and steam train, the attractions are all from the distant past. There is a side friction coaster, a carousel, a "flying" swing, a hedge maze, a fort, antique kiddie cars, rail bikes, dodgems, canoes, and a log flume.

This has been very enjoyable to design & construct.

    Here are some pics...

Pretty nice actually but you need to fix a few things.
Under the path change the land type to suit the path.
On the Mery-go-Round I don't like all the different colour flowers, limit it to just one colour.
And on the last screen I hate the green on the top right building.
but it seems your going for realism. ;)

Let it be known that I officially hate you. Although, that has nothing to do with the quality of your screenshots...

So does anyone have another good idea for a park I could use?

cg?, you probably could get away with stealing the idea ;)

Well Kai's done it before, too. Just face the fact that ideas get re-used and get over it?

I like the structure over the Caousel, and the archy looks good and realistic.

just do it better cg?, that usually works.

Just anything! Like people saying yeshli's 4D coaster was unoriginal and therefore crap...uh, no, it was very cool and just cos it used 'islands' doesn't mean it should be discredited.

I mean, did people have a go at SACF for using another atlantis-like area in RoB? No! So shut up, everyone!

It is difficult to find new ideas for parks and areas in the RCT.

I see vast improvement in your work Testudo, as opposed to the other park you did, I actually like the looks of this one. Cheater covered all there is with me too, only i like the flowers by the carousel. Nice work, very classic like atmosphere.

I didn't really mean it, actually. My project is still going, and it is somewhat different, from what I can tell. You'll see soon enough... I hope...

And the screens are rather nice.

I think you're just not trying hard enough. ;)

Anyway, Testudo! I like the screens. The park is old-school in both theme and execution. The style is reminiscent of your older work but it also shows how you've "modernized" it a bit. It's great to see you bulding again.

its really quite easy once you think about it =/.

You just don't always want to come up with something new.

Hey, thanks guys. I'm glad you like it.

No worries mate. There can be lots of variability in this type of park. I'm sure your park will kick ass and blow mine out of the water. ;)

Hey, thanks man. This park is different in every way from the last one I did.

cbass! What's up man. I havn't seen you in a while. I still check out your website from time to time. You're still puttin' out some great music! Keep it up!

And thanks for the props. Good to see you again.

Well the park is just about done, and I'm very pleased with the result. The peeps seem to really enjoy this place. I had to make a minor path adjustment to satisfy the little buggers, but that's it. The Trolley and Train rides, especially, are really cool.

In testing the park, I discovered that four, count 'em, four custom rides do not import to the ObjData folder correctly. :0 What really sucks is that these rides are not even used in the park! I was under the impression that the game only exports the attractions that are used, but this is not correct. The game exports ALL of the attractions that were selected in the scenario creation. Ugh!

I guess I'm going to have add these four rides with .zip file.

Anyway, here is one last screen, a partial overview of the park.
