The important thing is that there's a walkway underneath one of the larger hills so traffic won't be all confusing like it was this year when the viper area was closed off.

    I miss viper.

This looks nice though, have heard only good things from this type of artificial woodie. I'm a little worried for intamin 2 train operation, as really it would be hard to decide to waste the first and shortest line ride for this or Ka in the morning. Not sure if I like it right next to rt but it was obvious it was going there ever since viper was cleared away and the station was intact. Hope they put the bull ride back and maybe even get back sombrero, and I'm curious as to what this family ride they speak of is. And if SF signed with Pepsi instead of fuckin Coke, I would've had a taco bell in my homepark, but nooo.

They have a weird sense of humor calling it a 'hybrid out-and-back twister'. The have a two normal twister curves and the rest is some ground turns... Sorry, but that just doesn't justify the 'twister' element of the ride...

Ah well it's probably a good ride, but I think that that voyage thing is better. Just hope this ride just operates more then Kingda Ka ;)

there arent really any pictures of that part but did you watch the video? after the first four or so hills, the second part of the ride consists of about six changes of direction with minimal change of eleveation. i'd say thats a pretty darn good piece of twister coaster right there.

Two train operation is actually usually the most efficient on a woodie, since you don't have to worry about stacking and you're not limited by single train operation. Ghostrider at Knott's Berry Farm, for example, would absolutely suck on three train operation (and it's got a mid course brake run... something El Toro does not) because the crews wouldn't be able to get the trains out on time.

It looks good, but not as good as The Voyage, or the hype. Certainly not enough to make me want to fly out! Still, the drop looks great, and the twister bit should be awesome.

Also, wouldn't 3 train operation be possible with a duel-station? And wouldn't that get rid of a lot of the problems with normal 3 train operation (midcourse brakes, stacking, etc)?

I'd call it an out-and-back/twister. It looks like it has two big turns, several other twists, and a lot of ground twists. Not a whole bunch of helices, but I think a twister just implies that it has a lot of banked, horizontal movement, which it certainly does.

I don't think comparing it to The Voyage is very fair. The Voyage looks like it's in a class of it's own compared to nearly all other wooden coasters.

I think comparing it to The Voyage is extremely fair. They're both massive wooden rollercoasters, which begin as an out and back, end as a twister, and both claim the title of steepest wooden in America! How do you not compare them?

I suppose it probably is the closest thing to the Voyage, along with Hades, Colossos, and SOB. I'm just saying that it's going to take a whole lot to beat the Voyage. They went all out on that thing, and then some. And then some more.

Cedar Point needs to take notes. NOW.

Can't wait for Tatsu (supposed SFMM flyer name) to be announced. Cedar Point needs kick in the ass to build a new coaster. How about a 2-coaster Intamin Woodie/B&M Flyer addition. Ha yeah right.

I think the layout of El Toro sucks compared to The Voyage but it's still good to see more big woodies getting installed.
