Hey guys
Ive been away for a while and at the moment i dont have LL... so time to learn some RCT 2and as i discovered i really really suck at it. Ive always sucked at archy but in LL it wasent so obvious... lol anyway heres a small TV themed park im attempting using the PT2 bench.
Very little apart from the cracked TV and the launched coaster is done.
The launched coaster called "Tele Addict" vists all 4 main areas of the park
The area im least done with and deffinetly least pleased with so far. The Silent movie section of the park. (in black and white of course) however finding things to keep the landscape varied and interesting while sticking to black and white is hard. + my archy leaves a lot to be desired in RCT 2 at the moment... in fact i really really think it looks crap atm. lol (Note the white building is currently missing lots of windows as my 8cars seems to of vanished. (downloading now))
THe wild wild west area is looking alright so far. (i think) the Mobius Woodie (which is a pain to test) is possibly one of my best rides to date (even if i do say so myself) unfortunatly again my archy is rubbish lol.
as always help is always appriciated. (Especially on archy lol)
cheers

I think all your screens are creative, I like the first one. Maybe you should add custom supports.
The silent movie section is extremely creative and with it being just black and white i tended to view the screen as a whole and not concentrate on the archy.
With your archy, plan it out before you build it, use different textures and build out from the buildings with balconies walkways, bridges, anything.
The western section looks good as well. Your coasters look great. Again just add a few more touches to the buildings to make each one seem different. With the western section you could perhaps add a saloon styled bar that would be really obvious and add a bit more character to the area.
Hope that helps.

that television screen is a cool idea, but i think you should spruce up the supports and fix the ground that its standing on. i also think you should take out the water.
i think maybe you should theme the black and white section something similar to pleasentville if you ever saw that movie.
once you finish more, i think the last screen will look very nice.
cool concept. good luck! -

I did an experiment like that t.v. thing. It was a coaster that barged through a living room with a painting and a drink counter.
For the second screen, I feel your pain. It's incredibly hard to make good black white and gray themes.
And of course, work a little on the architecture. -

That's really cool. It reminds me of cBass' Basics of my Brain. Very creative. I like the Silent Movie section. Creepy... I don't know why, but I think a reality television section would fit. Why? I'm weird. -

i think darkjanus was making a black and white park a long time ago, though i remember seeing the screens. maybe if you can find him, you can ask him for them to maybe get some ideas on how to do it.
anyway, i think it all looks great. the water feature under the television looks a little awkward, though. -

cheers for the comments so far guys. something i should of mentioned is the park is basiclly a large tier'd pyramid. hence the stepped nature. Something ive managed to pull of before.
I agree about the water feature. The idea was to have water cascading down all 4 sides of the pyramid but it would look better to start it lower down.
i think i'll spend most of tomorrow studying peoples parksjust to see how they do things.
part of my problem is figuring out what all the things in the bench do. as of yet i aint figured out how to make supports disapear. lol

^Dig a hole under the support, place any object that blocks the support (experiment. only full-time or half-tile objects work, afaik). Then raise the land back up.
As for the screens -- not bad.
I like the architecture in the western area... but please ditch that fence. Never liked it.

^Weird. I just followed the hacking guide on RCT2.com, but I guess you don't need to zero clearances. -

hey... anyone remember teletopia?? the park me and supertrooper got 15% on before the game crashed. it was almost exactly the same as this. we had a giant TV, a black and white section, and a wild west section. if supertrooper gets on and sees this im sure he could suggest some ideas we were going to use.
anyway, looks good so far.. i'm sure you'll do a much better job with the theme than we did (or didn't). -

That first screen was pretty fun. I'm honestly not keen on the looks of the silent movie part, but I understand its purpose and I think it is necessary for the theme. The wild west area looks mad sexy. I love it. The fencing is a little odd, but I think it will grow on me. Great job so far, I cannot wait to see more of this. -

Yeah...this does remind me of Teletopia a bit. Jacko built a huge flashing TV as the entrance and a black and white section...as well as a Brady Bunch themed area. I built a wild west section with a coaster themed to Bonanza. There was a cop show/spy themed section with Car 54 and Dragnet, a Gilligan's Island ride, a I Love Lucy themed coaster, a I Dream of Jeanie coaster, and a Flipper themed coaster. There was also a to be a creepy section (Munsters, Aadams Family, Dark Shadows, Twilight Zone). I am sorry to ramble on about a defunct project, but I really liked the ideas we had and had high hopes for it...but the game crashed every time you clicked on a ride. So, if you wanna use any of those ideas...feel free. -

I love the black and white screen, the way you did it keeps the theme while not appearing boring just like the films themselves back in the day. The rails on the b&m I think should be grey. I love the woodie with the building there, but I have a question as to are the trains heading into the building or exiting? If exiting, I think it would be cool to use a door/window to make it look like those doors in wild west saloons, but open doors of course. -

Realy loving the screens.
The TV is pretty and the black and white screen has exactly the right amount of light/dark tone of colour. If you made it lighter I think it'd look a bit souless and flat. I like alot.Edited by Pattern Against User, 20 April 2006 - 05:08 PM.
