General Chat / question about gmail

so i started a gmail account today, but now i want to be able to chat over msn messenger using that account instead of a hotmail one. i don't really know how to activate it for msn messenger or whatever you have to do. i'll have no problem with the contacts list stuff, though, so don't bother with that. how do i make it work?

I thought you had to have either an MSN or Hotmail account to use MSN Messenger anyway.

i've seen people use it with a gmail account, but i don't know how. i would love to know, though, because i never use hotmail.

yeah, i'm trying to get away from hotmail because my inbox fills up with like 150 spam emails in about a week or so.

all you have to do is make a msn-pasport for your gmail account...

Just make a Passport account after going here:
http://my.msn.com with your gmail account.
After making a account there they will send a verification code to your gmail account. Verify your account by clicking on the link and then you can use msn messenger with your gmail account.

if you didn't verify your account within 3 days then your account will be deleted from msn database.

PS. wish choose for Gmail. Hotmail is the worst there is! =P
PPS. make a copy of all you contacts from your old Hotmail account. and open it with you new gmail account in MSN. this way you kill the time to add everyone "again"

I use MSNplus... good add-on....
there are some functions handy but nothong more...

anyway, mantis, what do you mean? there's 0% advertising in my msn.
maybe you mean those tabs on the left?
there's an option in the prefs "show my tabs" which you can disable.

msnplus doesn't work with msn8, unfortunately.

The propaganda isn't pop-ups, it comes up when it's finished patching...
And I can't find the 'hide tabs' option. I can only move them up and down. Gah.
