Hey.
I have been playing the Xbox 360 since around Christmas and to be honest I don't think it has lived up to its full potential so far. I mean I was expecting some really drastic improvements as far as graphics and gameplay and most of the "first-round" of Xbox 360 games have really lived up to this. As far as graphics and gameplay I still havent seen anything surpasses that of games such as Half Life 2. I have played a handful of the games and yes some are very fun but they are really not as great as I expected. Here's a quick run through--
Call of Duty 2-- It's a great FPS and online can be a ton of fun easily one of the best games so far on the 360. I really had no complaints about this game aside from the lack of featuring and physics.
Madden '06-- I was really disappointed in this one. It didnt feature any of the modes that i really loved from the PS2 Madden '05 even though it did step up graphically.
Quake IV-- I enjoyed playing this game as I do all this Sci-Fi, semi horror FPS, but the graphics weren't really that much better than that of Doom 3 or other older FPS games
Condemned: Criminal Origins-- This game is excellent and is all around a great game. The graphics are great, there are plenty of interactive objects, nice physics, and is quite thrilling. My favorite Xbox 360 game thus far.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted-- Its a great driving game no doubt but really is the same game as the PS2, Xbox, and Game Cube only with some graphic enhancements.
Perfect Dark Zero-- PDZ is a pretty fun game to play but honestly the graphics suck compared to what you would expect for and Xbox 360 game
NBA 2K6-- This is the greatest basketball game I have ever played but still some of the pre game cut scenes were repetitive and the game got choppy and laggy at parts. Much like NFSMW it is an identical game as the PS2, Xbox, and GC only with graphic updates
King Kong-- Another one great game for the 360 with very nice graphics and some neat puzzles and physics to play through. Havent played the older gen. version of this game some i dont know really what to say about it.
NCAA College Hoops 2K6-- This game was alright but the graphics seemed to be lacking for me. The game modes were pretty fun but aside from that I feel they could have done so much more with this game.
--
I know my opinion i quite biased considering I haven't played a good amount of the game but I still think I can say that the 360 really has not yet lived up to all the hype. There are a few games out for it now that are very good but there are others that weren't really too good at all.
Some of the new games coming out for the Xbox look like they will turn into a new chapter for this console, promising many more interactive capabilities, graphic enhancements, and more complex gameplay, some of these games are--
Prey
Dead Rising
Saint's Row
Resident Evil 5
Halo 3
Madden '07
Rainbow Six Vegas
Gears of War
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
I just hope these games step it up before I regret buying the Xbox 360 and wishing I would've waited for the PS3.
Does anyone else agree with me about how the 360 is rather disappointing? Does anyone else think that Xbox 360 will eventually turn it around with some of these upcoming releases?
Don't get it twisted though, I really enjoy playing Xbox 360 probably better than any other console I own but I just think that it isn't as great as it was hyped up to be

First round of games for a console never live up to the potential.
Take a look a the Halo franchise: two games, several years apart, same console. Halo 2 definately takes more advantage of the console.
The developers need to learn the quirks and boundries of the 360 first. Give it time.

I'm just thankful that the 360 killed Backwash on Halo2. What a horrible fucking level... -

I think the 360 is a great console. At the moment I only have four games, but two of them are amazing. Project Gotham Racing 3 was the first game that I got really into for the console. I picked it up around late January, and played through it the first week I had it. I seriously loved that game. You can say what you want about how the graphics aren't living up, but it honestly doesn't get much better. Also, pressure sensitive throttle and breaking... I know it's not revolutionary, but PGR 3 pulled it off and incorporated it so well, it's hard not to appreciate.
What's the second game you might ask? This one might come as bit of a surprise, but Rockstar Presents Table Tennis is one of the most fun games I have ever played. It seems unfitting for the virtual realm, but it's a sport [if you submit to calling it that] that really does fit extremely well on a console. It's a fast paced game that involves a lot of strategy and focus. The controls aren't very technical, but that's what makes the game great. It's easy to pick up, but hard to master... fore more difficult single player matches and online matches require technical mastery.
The other two games I have are Call of Duty 2 and Amped 3. I'm a huge Halo 2 player, but not that big a fan of the FPS genre. CoD 2 doesn't really appeal to me that much, which is for the most part why I haven't finished it yet[even though it's a relatively short game]. It's a great game, graphic wise and gameplay wise, but I find FPS relatively repetitive by nature [seriously not the case, but it's a mind set I can't get past]. Amped 3 I really liked. It's not that serious of a game, but Amped was the first game I got for the Xbox, and for that reason I hold the franchise somewhat dear. It was funny and enjoyable to play. Something about the richness of the colors and game design was pretty cool too. Definately not a game that defines a console though.
Right now I'm looking at Moto GP '06. It got mediocre ratings, but I'm in need of another racing game, and a Sim seems appealing at the moment. -

my friend got one. honestly it's not that great unless it's on a high definition tv. i've yet to play it, but i saw him playing call of duty. -

Yeah you do really need a HD tv but still good without one. Im playing Hitman:blood money, Amped 3, PGR3, Far cry:Instincts, Perfect dark zero, Tiger woods 2006 and Fifa 2006, there are all really great games. -

Really? I find racing games too repetitive. -

Eh, they are. Which is why I don't spend to much time on the single player component after I beat it.
I kind of want Need for Speed: Most Wanted. A franchise I've never considered supporting before, but after seeing Tokyo Drift I need another racing game, and I already have Burnout Legends [I know, not the same as Revenge, but still Burnout non-the-less] for the PSP. -

I'm not disappointed with it at all.
I still play all my games with the exception of Call of Duty 2 since I traded it in to get Oblivion.
But I am still having fun playing my games and I can't wait for the games coming out this year, such as Dead Rising, Gears of War, and a few others...
I just picked up Chromehounds yesterday, and the single player is somewhat slow, but I've only read good things about the Live portion of the game, but I have yet to try it out.
