The Main Idea: on august 27th, between 10pm and 3am...we're going to see mars, "moon-sized" ...at least in the southern hemisphere. Each day, during August, Mars will be nearer until its maximum rapprochement which will be 55,762,696.56 Km from earth. It's not a joke.
I can't wait.I hope it's not cloudy that day...

Yeah I heard about this. Supposedly it hasn't been this close in like 60,000 years or something. And the next time it'll be back around will be like the year 2210. -

Well...my aunt told me that she read on newspapers that the moon-size thing wasn't true...but it's true that Mars will reach its maximum rapprochement...

Sorry, that's way too cool to actually happen.
In short, this is an urban rumor that's been circulating every August since 03. It was when Mars actually was at it's closest in a while (in 2003), though it was only moon-sized if you looked at it with a telescope. Otherwise, it was a lovely red dot. That alone was still pretty cool. Maybe we'll get that again. I dunno. -
