Had two of those things pulled today. I really hate them. The lower one was hell to get out. The had to break it in two parts to get it out. My lower jaw feels quite battered and bruised now the anaesthesic worn off. Luckily the upper one came out with just one good pull (I really had the feeling of "Oh Shit, they still have to pull the other one"). Worst thing is that I still have to get back for round 2 for the other two.
Ah well it isn't as painful as that toothflesh transplantation, I had because I had three loose teeth (my diabetes was discovered that way). That time the had to take quite a bit of flesh out of my palate. 2 and half hours lasting operation isn't a good thing especially if the anaesthesics begin to wear of at the end. Took several week to heal, so I guess I shouldn't be complaining right now... -

Yes. They're called wisdom teeth in English. I'm getting mine out this Friday, so I'm going to be more whacked out than usual for a few days. On top of that, I have to get up earlier which means I have to actually talk to my parents once in a while. -

Mine were cut out.It took about three days of feeling nauseated and sore as hell before I could actually get out of bed and do stuff. I'm glad they're gone though!

Got mine taken out 3 or so years ago. Went to drivers ed 2 hours after the operation. The stitches simply came out 3 days after it all - no pain to speak of; just the annoying inability to chew about anything. Mmmm, smoothies! -

Got all mine out when I was in high school, but they put me under when they did it. I was pretty freaked out afterwards when they handed me a gaw to put in and when I took it out to look a few seconds later it was soaked with blood and pure red. They also brook my wisdom teeth into a few pieces, I saw then when I come to. Beforehand they told me that they can talk to you while you under and I did not believe it, till after it was over and I jokingly asked what we talked about and a nurse said "Oh you were talking about some girl named Angie" I think I shit myself when they said that, no way in hell they could know the named of the girl I had a crush on, so thats true they can can you talk and you'll never know. In the days after it was not that bad, I even took the Vicidin they gave me to see what all Eminem's fuss is about, but did not feel any change.
I have had teeth pulled while awake and thats pretty bad. Still not cavities for me tho, but im going for a cleaning on Friday and got my fingers crossed. -

Mine wasn't too bad. The day after sucked though...
They put me under and for all I knew the operation could've taking 10 seconds or 3 hours; I was out that good. When I came around in the 'recovery' room my bleeding had gone down, though it would keep "gushing" for the next 18 hours or so.
The next day sucked as far as eating and drinking. Every time I swallowed all the holes just ached; every time I took a drink it would soak the scabs and I'd start bleeding some again, anything more solid than apple sauce was out of the question. But overall things didn't hurt much, I slept a lot and took the double-dose vicidan they prescribed, it made me a bit dizzy and sleepy but that was all. Basically I spent a couple days watching movies and not being able to remember which movies I watched or what parts I slept through.

Wishing luck to everyone having problems with them.....
Still have 3 of them.
Some 2 years ago I felt a loose tooth in the far back. In utmost panic I called my dentist.
Next day she told me ``nothing to panic, just a wisdom-tooth that everyone can miss...now be a toughie`` and ....awwwww....one of my four wisdoms was gone....pain just lasted a couple of minutes (she knows I hate anaesthetics when not utmost necessary) and the other 3 are still sitting there without any problems whatsoever....
That´s why I am so wise.......and when not it is because of that missing one....

I've had a total of 14 teeth pulled, 10 of them baby teeth (which I was awake for), and the other four permanent (which I went under for). Basically, my mouth is wicked small, so most of my teeth had to be pulled so the others could grow. I'm in my third and final phase of braces, and I should have them out in about 2 years. Yessss. -

My wisdom teeth are yet to be pulled. I think they're waiting on it, because two are them are "fused" together and one of them is coming in completely upside down (), so I don't know. I really hate the dentist, so I'm not sure if I even want them out at all. :\

Oh, forgot to mention that when they gave me the gas (laughing gas is it?) that I should tell them when the puppies in the picture in front of me started to dance and hop around. They didn't. So they gave me more juice which didn't do anything. Then they said that I finally went under with more the twice the amount usually used. Oh, btw, that gas they gave me let me have one of the best naps I've ever taken. Mmmm... -

Uhhh... perhaps my oral surgeon was mistaken, but he said that all wisdom teeth are cut out. So what someone was doing breaking the tooth, I have no idea.
Why the hell weren't you asleep? And having to go back again for two more? Yikes. I could not imagine being awake for a wisdom tooth extraction.
I just had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled in July. It really wasn't that bad, all you do is pop some Vicodin and it is easy. And I didn't have any problems with only sleeping or whatever, I functioned normally. Eating was horrible and I didn't have anything solid for at least three or four days, other than that.

I didn't have to have my wisdom teeth removed, but my money hungry dentist "encouraged" it. I remember rambling to the nurse when they started gassing me and then nothing. The pain was nonexistant the next day, and the day of the surgery I was so doped up that I couldn't feel anything.
One good thing did come out of it: for dinner I got to eat KFC macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes with gravy. Love those fake potatoes. -

yea, im gettin four removed in the fall when i come home for break... not gonna be a fun break... -

It's not that bad. Really. I wonder alongside John why soem of you seem to have these less-than-painless surgeries. You go in, they gas you up, you're knocked-the-fuck-out, they take the teeth, you wake, little bit of pain maybe, and the intake of non-solids for a couple days. How'd they do yours? Is there a different way in other countries? Do they still use Novocain injections for local anesthesia? And broken teeth? So many of you seem to have that problem. -

No need to get mine out
My money-mad orthodontist said "Yes" after I paid him another amount of money for just another loose brace which I, of course, "had" to have.
I then went to my trusted dentist who treats me since I was born and he said "No, it's okay not to get them out if you don't really want to".
Man, this decision was waaaaaaay too hard -

I was supposed to be awake for my extraction but I was so tired that day that when they gave me the anthestic it knocked me out cold. I remember waking up dizzy as could be from blood loss and stumbling to my dads car. I go to sleep with a gauze in my mouth and wake up with the side of face covered with dried blood. I had no problem with pain and I think I had real food, cant really remember. If I did, I know I chewed carefully -

Meh... not looking forward to this... couple years ago my mouth was so small a bottom tooth didn't even have room to grow and my teeth had to be pulled to the side with braces to make room... so my mouth couldn't possibly fit any more teeth comfortably. I'm thinking they may not even grow in but just have to be taken out from under the gums or something. -

Yuck, Impacted Teeth...I had two impacted eye teeth (those fang like ones). They had to cut two holes in the roof of my mouth, and pull them down slowly using chains attached to my braces. I was too young or something to get pain pills, and my wonderful mother made me go to school...
Wisdom teeth still arent out, hoping they wont have to (although vics go for about 6 a pill at school)...
