  • HeArTlInEtWiStEr%s's Photo
How would I take music from a CD or something to that effect and use it as custom music for a ride without being able to use sound recorder due to the fact I don't have a mic.........

ic. Well your computer has a cd drive, so it can play cds. Just need to use 'sound recorder'. There are programs that convert songs for you, but i don't know of any.

The dBpowerAMP music converter, is amazing and easy. It comes with a CD burner as well. Whatever, I'm pushing it because I'm a stupid prick. But it does everything I've ever needed it to do, flawlessly.

Well, it has a help file that comes with it (or mine did at least). But if I must, to quote the various help files:

UNSUPPORTED FEATURES IN ROLLERCOASTER TYCOON V2.01.xxx
    ------------------------------------------------------

    Custom ride music
    -----------------
Additional ride music may be added as follows:
    1. Convert the new music file into a .WAV file, PCM format, 22,050Hz,
      16bit, Stereo.
    2. Move the file into the 'Data' subfolder in the RollerCoaster Tycoon 2
installed folder, and rename it to either CUSTOM1.WAV or CUSTOM2.WAV
    3. Run the game as normal. The additional music file should be recognized
by the game, and will appear in music selection menus as "Custom Music 1"
      or "Custom Music 2".

    Note
    ----
This feature is unsupported by Infogrames.
It should work, but if you experience problems then you're on your own!

...and then how to use the dBpowerAMP CD extractor to do this...

When dMC Audio CD Input starts you will be asked to insert an Audio CD if you have not already done so. Normal Audio CDs do not contain any information about Artist or Track Names, they only contain audio, so to save you from having to type these details your computer will attempt to contact the freedb CD database. This database resides on the internet and contains listings of practically every CD. Privacy Info: no information is sent from your PC to this database except from one number used to identify your Audio CD. After identification, relevant Artist and Track information is magically filled in!

Before we start Ripping, most people would like to store the Ripped audio tracks in a folder with the name Artist, this can be set by clicking Options and Set next to File Creation, next select [Artist]\[Artist] - [Track]. If you are a Power Pack user you will most definitely want to set dMC to Rip at warp speed, do this by clicking , then check both Rip to Ram and Rip & Encode at Same Time.

Tracks with a check will be Ripped, ready to Rip?, not quite, let us first select what we want to rip to (audio format to be used), this can be done by selecting the menu (little triangle) next to Rip.

From here select Rip To >>, and choose the format, for example Mp3 (Lame). As this is the first time we are ripping, it would be wise to set a few options, such as compression options and the location where the files should be saved, so this time start ripping by selecting Rip Menu >> Rip With Options, and you will be rewarded with this page (the top section could be different depending what audio format is being used).

Now you are ready to rip!

When Ripping your next CD, as it has been already set up - just click the Rip button.

...although a much easier to understand HTML version of the dBpowerAMP instructions can be found as a help file, once you download the program.

If you just want to convert music, there is also a help file for that, which comes with the program.

I would tell you how to do it myself, but it is somewhat complicated, and I suck at giving directions (truly, I do, I'm terrible, horrible, etc.) But I hope this helped.
