RCT Discussion / Buying RCT used

I was finally able to get a copy of RCT2 brand new off of ebay, sealed and all in the CD case. After a few months, it's working great! I'm psyched.

I finally want to move back into the past of RCT even further and revisit the original RCT that I loved since I started playing in 1999. Whatever let me throw out my copy, who knows, but either way I want it back.

I'm considering using ebay again, but I want to make sure that it is a new copy. However, RCT differs from RCT2 in that the expansion packs are basically necessities, where as in RCT2 they added crappy scenery and stupid 'new' coaster types with just different car types.

My question is, how should I buy RCT and the expansions CF/AA and LL? Is it okay to buy the gold or deluxe version? Will I lose any trainer functionality, or are their any disadvantages? Or is it better off to buy the RCT game individually and buy the two expansions seperate?

    Thanks!

Any gold edition will screw up trainer and patches so don't go for anything like that. you can just get a copy of the original disk and then a copy of LL which has CF on it as well (from what I know CF disks are pretty hard to find since it comes with LL).

good luck finding rct on ebay, I had to buy a new disk and it wasn't too bad... although that was a couple years ago now...

OH okay, I didn't realize LL had CF on it, thanks that makes things much easier.

I think I got mine on ebay. Either way, it shouldn't be more than a few dollars.

it's a good thing you've asked. in fact you lose trainer functionality with the gold or deluxe versions. you need the original rct and then a copy of rctll and you're set.
also need this topic then; http://forums.nedesi...?showtopic=7396 :)

I was just at a Half Price Books and picked up a plain RCT2 CD (brand new) for $5. They also had the RCT1 Gold edition for $6. If you have a Half Price Books near you it might be worth a call.

    Otherwise I'd order off Amazon.
