Ask the Experts / Having trouble loading NE parks into RCT2

    Hello all!

Well... where do I start!? First of all, I just want to say, it is great to find another great community with fans of this great game! A little background on me: back in the day I was an avid RCT user (Loopy Landscapes 4ever!!!) and even got into RCT2 when it first came out, but then I got burned out on it all and sadly, lost interest in RCT.

I was a member of and a huge fan of the old danimation.com forums (coasterguy29), and am glad to see many of the old danimation super stars on this site. And I actually remember when this site was first started, if I'm not mistaken, by danimation members I believe? Kudos to you guys for keeping it going, this is a PHENOMENAL site!

Anyways, enough of the reminiscing. I feel like such a n0ob, and BELIEVE me, I have googled and searched the hell outta my issue all day today and can't find a solution, so I am having to embarrass myself here.

To make a long story longer... I can't open any of the parks on this site, and it's killing me! I am trying to view all the great spotlight parks and of course any time I try to load it, RCT installs all the objects and then WHAM... "ERROR TRAPPER!" I see this annoying S.O.B. of an error is still around. I remember from back when I was originally heavily into RCT2 that I could open hacked scenarios/parks, but I don't remember what I had to do so.

Can you guys help me out with this problem? I have searched and searched and can't seem to find a solution on here that works for me. I did recently just install the Wacky Worlds expansion and the WW update/patch. Can this have something to do with it?

Also, is there a way to view parks created with Loopy Landscapes in RCT2? I seem to vaguely remember some kind of trick involving the scenario editor that comes with the game, no? As much as I love and live by LL, I kinda don't want to have to go through having two versions of the game installed.

SO SORRY this is long as hell guys. I am just kinda excited to get back into the scene and RCT! And one last thing then I'm gonna jet... umm... I really don't like RCT3 at ALL! LOL. I don't even bother with that mess; poor Chris. I know he had legal issues with Atari and all, but hopefully maybe ONE day, he can expand on what he had going in RCT2 with a re-vamp of the series... in ISOMETRIC.

Alright, I'm gonna run, I appreciate any help you guys can offer me; glad to be here on the site, and again, great work to all you who work hard to keep this place going!

each park has to export objects, this is a common problem ALL face, just open the saved game again and it will opened the 2nd time.

and YES you will most likely have to do this with EVERY park

    hi!

welcome to the site. it's good to see members find their way back. i was a lurker around danimation back in the day.

as for your park issue, normally in rct2 when you load a park it exports the custom scenery objects and then always error traps. what you have to do is then load the park again after all the custom scenery is exported. then it *should* open. so the rule of thumb is to load it twice, if it still doesn't load after two tries there is most likely an object which didn't export with the game (custom rides). if this is the case you can come on here and ask for the object and normally someone will send it over.

it shouldn't have anything to do with ww/tt.

you CAN load a .sv4 (rct1) saved game in the rct2 scenario editor, and it will import all the landscape and stuff that it can, but it's not really much help. to view rct1 parks you really need to have it installed. there is a great guide here on ne that posix wrote. you can find it here. included are instructions on how to run ll without a cd which comes in handy as there won't be disc swapping between ll/rct2.

as for rct3, i think your opinion matches most people on these boards, so welcome home.

we appreciate the love, as the current admins really do care about this site a lot.

have fun, and hope to see you around!

OMG LOL! I can't believe how easy the solution was! You guys were both right, I just tried to re-open the park and VOILA! It worked! Thank you guys so much, I can't believe I spent ALL DAY looking for a way to get around that lol; it's kinda a hassle, but really in the end it doesn't matter cuz when you get to see these guys' incredible work it makes it all worth it!

And thanks for the tip on the LL games, geewhzz! If it comes down to it and I want to check out spotlights from LL, I'll just install it I suppose.

I'm really glad to be apart of the forum here now and hope to be a steady contributor in the future! Thanks again!

    one more tip

if you cant still open the park, try opening another park first and than load the park. something that helps.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip, Levis, and I will definitely keep that in mind. P.S., after looking around the site and forums over the last couple of days, can I just say that I really admire yours and geewhzz's work... you guys are really talented in the RCT realm!

    Thanks again!
