Ask the Experts / no idea why

Ok....I opened up Datchecker...went through a shitload of objects that morons duplicate for the sake of...hell, I don't know......but they fill up my small scenery to the point that it won't scroll. No big..everybody gets that. I've removed those annoyances a hundred times before.

BUT, today..I did the same old, same old................got rid of all those annoying duplicates...and when I tried to open RCT2.....halfway through the "checking object files" I got an error trapper. Figured I must have deleted a default object. Gee sent me the 'restore' file...tried THAT...nope.

I un installed and re installed the game (saving everything I have to another drive) and at FIRST..I got "starting game for the first time" bar....ERROR TRAPPER halfway through.

Tried again, same thing.

Uninstalled and re installed again....but THIS time I got "checking object files" followed by an ERROR TRAPPER.

I put my disk through the 'restorer' and it's fucking beautiful.....I'm SURE it's not the disk.

NOW....when I try to uninstall via ADD/REMOVE..I get "An installation support file couldn't be installed. The system cannot find the file specified"

So, NOW I can't even uninstall the fucking thing.

Other than ..."dude, bend over and accept it".....anyone have an idea what I can do here?

I'd HATE to fuck my team out of that top podium spot because of this.

See normally I get an error trapper halfway through checking objects.

I then am able to load up the game again have it check through the objects a second time and it works like a charm.

I don't know whether this is the case here? Have you tried running it a first time and then after the error trapper run it a second?

delete the files manually
use a program like CCleaner to get the registery items and remove them
make a backup of all your own things and than make sure ALL files of rct2 are deleted.
than install the game again and run it (without putting anything back in place).
this should work.
now put back your savegames and open it again.
put back your scenarios and open it again
than put back some objects at the time, if rct2 has to many new objects at once it crashes.

could be something more complicated also but in that case I cant help you cause your from a rival team and it would mean I help them. this works in 9 of the 10 times.

k0ng, here's a story magnus told me the other day.

in german communities, they take toon's objects, translate them, rename with german name, et voila, duplicates are spreading.

the whole object handling of the game is such a HUGE FREAKING FIASCO, i can't even word it.

but whatever. instead of using ccleaner, although it sure is a great piece of software, try http://www.revouninstaller.com/

it's a sustainable uninstaller that removes things 100% from your computer and also displays everything you have installed, while "add/remove programs" hides a bunch of applications.
if you want to give it a go, use the "advanced" option when it asks you to. delete everything it's going to find.

on a further note, i do not believe un/reinstalling will help you here. i believe it's an object problem. most likely, an object that's supposed to be displayed is missing in the sv6 object index. can you still open other sv6 after this problem occured?

Ya know, back when I used to race motocross I rode for Team Suzuki and always had two bikes and more spare parts and equipment than any of the 'private' riders. People knew they could always come to me (or any of my teammates) for any help we were able to give them to get to the starting line. No one on my team gave a fuck because, once the gate dropped.....THAT part of it was over. Sure, I'd never refrain from cutting off their line or block them if they were after a teammate but, I'd always do anything I could to make sure they had a bike that was able to race.

So, I'm happy that it wasn't anything 'more complicated' that would have had to involve you.

Anyway...before today, my priorities in H2H5 were: my team, kicking Hurricane ass and us winning as many rounds as possible. That has changed. I now want to see the Elementalists get the living fuck beat out of them every round now .

can't help myself from replieing altough I know this is gonna end up in a discussion which comes to no good ....

as you might know I'm doing martial arts. and I'm doing this on a pretty high level (won some national chapionships etc). what you probally don't know is that people competing in such sports often are good friends when they aren't on the tatemi (in the ring) but when they are the beat the crap out of each other. when we injure someone we help him after the match if possible and apologise etc.
what you are saying about motor race is pretty familiar to me also. but you are saying it right "get to the starting line" . in my opinion we have passed the starting line already. some other people we ask me question on IM programs have gotten the same replies. I help them if the info is on the boards somewhere already. but knowledge which isn't widely avaible and takes a lot of my time to explain I wont share with them untill h2h is finnished cause I'm helping the other team in that case and spending time I could have used to build on a park on the park of the rival.
as it seems it was just a corrupt plugin.dat and Revouninstaller removed it. which would have the same effect as when you did what I said.

another thing I want to tell you is I sometimes don't tell the truth. you might have heared of something called psychology. well i sometimes use it on the boards. If you give someone some hints of what to do and say you wont help him any further he will only ask again if he REALLY gets stuck. when you say there are other possebilities he often things he is that one case and wants to know that info instantly. so thats why I say I dont help someone any futher cause I know when it really doesn't help I will hear in the end and than I can always help. but that takes time and I don't want to waste it as I explained.

Hope you are satisfied and have even more ethiosiasme to build some great parks agains us cause I prefer to lose agains a great park than win from a bad park . but best is to win from a great park with an even better park.
