I've had an idea to have sort of RCT chart just like music charts.
It could be based on d'l of each park alone once released. If a park gets more or less downloads, they move up or down accoringly. It would work the same way as usic charts, each week it would be announced as to which parks were the most downloaded of the week.
However the epic parks woul clearly always be nuber one each week, but it could be done in a way that at the start of the week the total of downloads is recorded (wheteher official or unofficialy released) and then at the end of the week, the increase in downloads is recorded and a chart is assebled as such. The difference in nuber of downloads over the week is what counts not those overall.
Sorry if that didnt make sense but for those who understood it, what do you think? I think it'll add something to the community and would be agood way of showing what park is everyones favourite for that week.
Anyone think its a good idea?Edited by jon, 20 July 2009 - 09:47 AM.

sounds like alot of work simply to say someone's park has been downloaded alot. You can't really judge the quality of a park based on downloads, because people download the park to judge the quality. they don't download the park because it is quality. So all you would be says in the end is that everyone was interested in this park so they downloaded it.
Just seems like a pointless outcome...

isnt that the same priciniple as usic charts though, you buy music outof interest it doesnt mean it has to be good when you listen to it. Just like in a real chart, people will release its ba an it will move down next the next weke or whatever.
As for the work, I'd be willing to help out or even do it myself (though I;d need a few helpers). -

Sounds like a good idea!
I recently had the idea of modernizing 'The List'. The current 'the list' is outdated and misses quite some brilliant releases that belong in there (El Encierro!). The new list could be a chart based on scores given by the accolade panel. The problem is that only releases from the past year have been judged by the panel, so the list would only contain recent releases... I suggest that before the chart is started, people can nominate brilliant parks that should belong in there. The accolade panel judges the ones that have a chance to get into the top 100 (the panel's members most probably know a lot of the nominated parks already, like Rivers of Babylon and that kind of stuff) and whenever it looks like the chart is somewhat complete, the parks are being ranked and put online. It's a lot of work that may cost many months, but when it's done there's a nearly perfect list that is easy to keep up to date. Nominating forgotten parks from the past will be still an option.
I think it this would be even more awesome.Edited by Liampie, 20 July 2009 - 12:09 PM.

i vote liampies idea.
but i can see how this could be very time consuming, and maybe the reward isnt worth the hastle.
plus, you look at designs, spotlights and CC sorta differently, so you might give a 17 to a design, but if it was a spotlight, you may only give it 13. i dont know, im not an accolade panelist, i might be chatting crap.
although im all for it, i can see why it would be easy to say no. -

^Also keep in mind that old releases that might have been groundbraking in the past won't score as high as they should (compare old LL to new LL work for example).

You raise somegood points Liampie. An I know what you mean wirh rhe list, its al recent parks.. if it was my way Atlas Infinitum by Posix would be no1, followed by RoB. I feel the list should have been more member focused and this is another alternative in which the people have more say in what happens even if its only a week by week basis.
I dont think that older parks shoul be inclue (they can of course if there downloae enough). I ont think NE gets that many downloads anyway (though i mite be wrong), so say i RoB was to be downloaed 20 times in one week and thats the most out of anyone it could be #1. I feel that would make it too similiar to the list but I intended this to be a week-by-week mainly biweekly thing of what people want.
I would appreciate an admin to voice there opinion here. I think its a great idea and would really beneift the site and as I said, I woulnt mind helping out with it.Edited by jon, 20 July 2009 - 12:18 PM.

^ I'm interested.
It seems as though we should just make NE5. Which makes me think of one of my favorite Family Guy moments:
Lois: Peter, we've been over this, there has to be a World War III and IV first.
Peter: Oh no, oh no. That's the beauty of World War V, Lois, it's so intense, it skips over the other two.
Lois: It doesn't work--
Peter: I HAVE SPOKEN!Edited by FullMetal, 20 July 2009 - 06:55 PM.

That is actually where I took a lot of inspiration from. (I follow tennis quite much)It'd be great if a ranking like the ATP/WTA (tennis) could be pulled of here.
