Ask the Experts / How to get Custom Music into the game

    Hey guys,

I was asked to do a tutorial on custom Music in RCT2, so here it is.

    Software needed
There are 2 freeware programs which I use to convert (SUPER) and to cut music (Audacity).

    - http://audacity.sour...e.net/download/ (Windows Vista and 7 Users, please get Version 1.3beta)

Both programs are completely free of both any kind of charge and spyware or viruses.

    Step 1
Having SUPER and Audacity installed, you need a source file for your music. It can be either a mp3, wma, a video of any format or anything containing an audio track.
I'm not going to explain how to download stuff from youtube, so don't even ask.
Assuming that you've got your source file, (which looks like this in my case:)

    just start SUPER.

    STEP 2
After SUPER is completely up and running (can take up to 20-30 seconds, depending on your antivir software), just drag and drop your source file in the field that is marked red below.
The green fields are the necessary selections you have to check/uncheck. It has to look like the sample picture in the end.
In the end, just press "Encode (Active Files)" and wait, untill it finished the encoding. The new file will be in the same folder as your source file.

    Step 3
Close SUPER and start up Audacity, if you want to cut the file. Else, just rename it to either CUSTOM1 or CUSTOM2 and copy it to your RCT2/Data Folder.
If you want to cut it, please read on.

    Step 4
Drag and Drop the .wav file into the Audacity window.
Click the "Play" button to play the track and find the spot where you want it to be cut.
If you found it (0:31 in my case), press the Pause button and select the "Selection Tool" (the one marked red).
Then select the whole track, starting from the point where the green marker is.
Press the "Stop" button and then "Del" on your Keyboard. You should end up with the first 31 (/whatever) seconds visible.
To increase the Volume, just play around with the pitch control you see on the very left (-/+)
Press "File" -> "Export" and just click "Save".
Your track now is cut, can be renamed to CUSTOM1 or CUSTOM2 and used in the game.

maybe you could include a little instruction on how to increase the volume.
I personally use vegas movie studio cause I like the interface better. but that program is paid so good job you made this.

sorry, had to try it first. it's poison-free ;)

Yeah, I tried to explain everything step-by-step, as not all of the members here will have the same computer experience as me.
Maybe, one of the admins would even be kind enough to pin this thread? *blink blink*

that tool doesn't do the converting. it only places the file at the right position.
