From "Not Afraid" first single off of Recovery (formally Relapse 2):

Let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was "ehhhh"
Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground
Relax, I ain't going back to that now

I think most people will think this is a good thing.

So I have given Recovery a listen through several times, and honestly this is a phenomenal album. Although it is still a bit of a different style from the Eminem we grew to love in The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and even The Eminem Show, but it is still a huge step back to quality material after Encore and Relapse were considered disappointments. I would even go to say this is his third best album behind The Marshall Mathers LP and The Slim Shady LP. Honestly, its close between this and The Eminem Show, but pound-for-pound this album felt all around better although a few of The Eminem Show songs are better than the best Recovery songs. Still, some songs on Recovery are brillance. My favorites are "Space Bound", "Talkin' 2 Myself", and "Won't Back Down" (4.5/5)

For me Recovery is tied for third with The Marshall Mathers LP, behind The Slim Shady LP and The Eminem Show. I am in love with 25 To Life, Space Bound, Talkin' 2 Myself, No Love(Eminem's verse), and Love the Way You Lie(Eminem's 3rd Verse)

I think Inversed and I have fairly similar taste in rap.

My order, with ratings according to the Enns Media Rating System

The Eminem Show (favorite rap album ever) - 28/30 possibly 29/30
The Marshall Mathers LP (third favorite rap album ever) - 25/30
    Recovery - 24/30
The Slim Shady LP - 22/30
    Relapse - 19/30
    Encore - 17/30

My rating system is tough so even the lower scores are better.

As you can see, during Eminem's early days people like me were quite happy as his albums literally got better every time for us.

I could put the D12 albums (Devil's Night and D12 World) and Eminem's various EPs (Slim Shady EP and Straight From the Lab) and demos (Infinite, Fuckin' Backstabber) on their if I wanted to, but I don't right now. Okay, fine, I'll do one, since you asked so hard.

Devil's Night - 27/30 - I don't think many people like this album as much as I do, especially not nowadays, I don't think it has the same lasting value for most people as Eminem's solo work does a decade or so later.

Yeah when I'm not listening to death metal I like Eminem and if you think liking the two are mutually exclusive fuck you.

I like Recovery a lot, and I think it was shocking but surprisingly effective and good the way the featured guests are not D12, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent (thankfully, I hate that guy), Nate Dogg, Royce da 5'9" and the other people who people expected. The fact that only Lil Wayne has any VERSE content besides Eminem on a 17-track album I think refelcts well on Eminem as he does all those verses and most of the choruses by himself, I hate when CDs have so many guest artists.

Ok, I have listened to Recovery even more and will say, it is now my favorite album by Eminem and one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time. He truly has some of the most clever and creative one lines I have ever heard I will point out my favorites:

"Love is evil spell it backwards, I'll show ya" (e-vol)
"Now you get to watch her leave out the window, I guess that's why they call it window pain"
"My filet is smoking weed, get back since the stakes are high"
"I'm a thumb tac that you slept on slept on son, now here I come screaming 'ATTACK!' like I just stepped on one"
"You rappers are Eminem backwards Men-i-me's" (mini me's)
"I gave Bruce Wayne a valium and said settle your fucking ass down I'm ready for combat man, get it, calm batman"
"Making cash registers shit their drawers"

These are just a few examples that really stood out to me. Along with that, Eminem develops more complex rhyme schemes and intricate lyrics than any of his other albums. This album shows more of his serious side that most of his past ventures. Still, the album features a large amount of the shock value that we have all grown to love with Eminem. What also stood out to me was his use of different speeds throughout the whole album. We see eminem slow it down, then rap so fast it leaves you head spinning. Perfect album.

damn, no one here has ever heard the INFINITE ep? you guys should find it, that has, in my opinion, some of the realest tracks he has ever done.

Yeah I have it on my iPod. From a production and sound standpoint its a little too dated for my tastes. Still he have some quality/clever rhymes on that album. To be honest, the song "Biterphobia" which was released before Infinite is still one of my all time favorite Eminem tracks.
