Ask the Experts / A few questions for an old player...

Hey guys,

I am an old RCT2 and LL player from years and years ago and recently had the urge to get back into the game. I went ahead and installed RCT/CF/LL and RCT/WW and got both games set up. Then I came back here to NE as I remembered it was the cream of the crop for park making and wanted to download some parks from the list and check them out for inspiration. However, after downloading them I kept getting unable to load errors in both RCT and RCT2. I assumed it was due missing custom object files so I went around and downloaded tons and tons including geewhiz's pack from 2007. However, after downloading all of that I still can't open these parks. Problem is... when I played before I never remembered having that problem even with object I hadnt downloaded. If im not mistaken... when the parks are exported most of the custom object are included in the saved game file itself so you dont have to DL them. So essentially my question is... what am I doing wrong? As an example... I just downloaded DisneyAir from the list and when I open the park in a red box the error "unable to load file - invalid data"(or something similar to that) appears. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am very anxious to get back into the swing of things with some parkmaking.

PS. I forget what my alias used to be before, but I used to spend a lot of time at the RCT Station forums and was in the Renegades and Renaissance groups back in the early 2000s.

For LL you need to install the LL-Patch + the Drexler Patch to view these parks ingame. (sorry, don't have a download atm )

For RCT2 you're missing rides, which arent exported. If you download parks from NE (newer one, don't know if the old one, too) the ride is in the Zip-folder.

Sometimes you get an error the first time, then restart RCT and try again and it might work. And I would suggest downloading rides from Amazing Earl. 

And get rid of Wacky Worlds soon, it is a rubbish expansion. 

All of the PT2 parks were not exported (custom objects) due to server space size way back when PT2 was going on. So you have to download the bench on the PT2 page first and load that, then you get all the files.

I agree, but if you want to view some parks, like a few ones at rctspace, then you need it.

Okay so I went here http://www.filefront...fficial-Patches and downloaded the LL patch and the drexler patch, but both gave errors when attempting to install. The LL patch says unrecognized game version, and the drexler says this is not the RCT with the Expansion Pack AA/CF. I cannot patch this. So I will try another download and attempt to do it again, but i am assuming it has something to do with the installation type for my game. I have RCT Deluxe which I don't know if it interferes with this at all or not. Any help would be awesome.

PS. The PT2 bench fixed the issue and I was then able to open the DisneyAir park... thanks for the help!

I think you cannot use the Drexler patch on RCT Deluxe, which means the parks on this site cannot be opened with it. But I could be wrong.

Nope... you are correct! Just found this http://rct.wikia.com...r_Tycoon_Deluxe which says the deluxe version of the game disables the drexler patch. So I suppose I shall just have to DL the original/CF/LL all individually and go from there. Damn you Hasbro!

LL includes CF,
so you should only download the original CD and the LL one!

Ahh thank you Evil! I now have it working and was able to open all my parks on both version of the game... thanks for all the help everyone. I started a new 50x50 to get back into the swing of things last night and can't wait to start posting screens.
