Which is the most violent? I know the God of War series gives credence to the Greeks for this, but other game series' should be made with other mythologies, like the Egyptians, or the Norse, or the Romans, or the Celtics, or whatever?
If any scholars are here, I would be pleased for your knowledge/opinion? -

I'd say take a look at Dantes Inferno .. its an adaptation of the poem by Dante describing the different layers of hell. if you are looking for mythology expressed in gaming I think you can't get more darker and voilent then that. -

I'd say 23 Minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese, but only because I've never read Dante's Inferno. This really is the darkest story I've ever read..
Bill claims he really went down to hell for 23 minutes I didn't believe him until after reading... the first chapter. -

Thanks for the responses to this topic (my other one got shut down for some reason before anyone even had the chance to troll it, but whatever), Levis I am not just looking for a game (althought I do want to check that out, as the folks who made Dante's Inferno made Dead Space, my favorite seventh generation game, and it looks good, and I am interested to see what people outside my religion think of it) but just in general, if any particular mythology is noted for being violent. I can picture for instance the Norse having violent mythological characters but I am not an expert.
I think I have heard of the 23 minutes thing once in an airport thanks for the reminder. -

considering the old JChrist was a rather docile chappy, christianity is one of the (if not THE most) brutal and violent religions. -

While i'm definately not a christian believer, i find it rather cheap to always refer to witch-hunt, crusades etc.
People would have found other "reasons" to kill each other.
There are a lot of positive things that have been justified or motivated by christianity, just as much as bad things have been justified or motivated by christianity. It always depends on what people make of it. -

The topic is about the most violent mythology - Christianity doesn't have too much of that if you ignore Lott and some other old testament stuff.
I would say, maybe have a read of paradise lost? There's also some pretty dark stuff if you look at the voodoo past of countries like Haiti. -

I just remembered something.
Look for the stories considering Minotaurs.
I believe there was a island somewhere in greece where they had to offer childeren to the minotaur etc. there is also a movie adaptation of this storie by (I believe) twisted pictures.
