Ask the Experts / Is there a proper way to use 8cars?

Hi, this is my first post on this site, hopefully many more will follow! I've been playing RCT for many years, with a recent 3 year break, and have been involved in the community a little bit I think. I was quite involved with the NoLimits community on CoasterSims however. Anyway I am trying to figure out the best way to hack RCT2!
At the moment though I am getting a bit frustrated with using 8cars to hack RCT2. Seems like if I try to perform a single hack I'll get some stupid graphic glitch that I can't get rid of. Just a little bit ago for example I was trying to build a roadway and had 8cars running had even zeroed the clearances yet and a piece of land spiked up to above the data point and I couldn't figure out how to get it back to normal, now starting over with a previous save without the roadway :/.
Is there a difference between 1.21, 1.31, and 1.32? I've only been using 1.32.
Also is there a specific order on performing hacks that give a better chance of RCT2 not glitching?
Edit - saw in another thread to use version 1.302 of 8cars, I will try that tomorrow along with any other suggestions, I'm done for today however.
Thanks for the help, really trying to create a nice looking park but this is slowing me down a lot! -

I'm curious to see what the responses are to this one because I've experienced similar problems using 8cars to zero clearances. -

I'm guessing wildroller has downloaded that zip file that google gives you with those 3 versions in. My experience with that zip file is nothing but nightmares. I believe the problem is that it only includes one DLL file, even though this file was different for each of the 8 cars releases. So sometimes the programs don't get the response they'd expect from the DLL (which is effectively an external compiled library of code).
I downloaded the newest version of 8 cars from the downloads section of RCT2.com and all worked well.
Just a suggestion - maybe NE could host these files as well and we could comment on each file saying in which circumstances it works? Because I'm sure some versions are better on certain PC setups, or for certain tasks. For instance, the RCT2.com 8 cars won't raise/lower track for me so I use v 1.21 from that zip download.
I've not tried v1.302 at all... how do I get that? Can't find it anywhere (or is that me being special!) -

Use 1302. Moreover 8Cars isn't really working on Windows XP Home Edition.
Really? I am using an install of Windows XP home edition, but after service pack 2 there is no actual difference between XP Home and XP professional edition so I am hoping you are wrong on that.
As for the guy asking about 1302, I found it attached to a reply in one of the 8cars thread.
Oh well, going to give it try, hopefully it goes better today!
As an extra question is there any hope to fix a game that has a glitch occur in it, like a piece of land glitching and appearing to be higher than the games limit for land? Or for any graphic glitch?
Thanks for the replies! -

I'm certainly not an expert, but I have a suggestion for your land height problem.
In 8cars, there's an option to 'excavate' a ride, i.e. make it not be underground.
I've never done this, so make sure you save first!
You could try building a coaster through the land that's too high, then excavating it with 8cars.
To do it with 8cars, hit F10 in the trainer and it'll load the ride editor, then in special actions tick excavate. In the color scheme, choose main, then apply.
Once again, I've never done this, so make sure you save first!
Hope this helps.
