Don't know if anyone else has been following this but it's pretty impressive how well it's been going so far today.

(BBC live text coverage has been pretty good)

I can't imagine how phycologically and physically tough it must be to be stuck underground for almost 70 days but the Chilean government seem to have organised this rescue brilliantly.

There's still plenty of people to go (13 out of 33 up so far) but the images of people arriving at the surface to their family's has been one of most amazing things I've seen for ages.
Hopefully the next 20 will go without a hitch too.

It's been very impressive. I've been watching the live feed when I can.
I wonder how many of these guys will suffer long lasting effects-- I would think there's going to be a lot of problems with post traumatic stress disorder.
Either way, it's good to see them getting saved-- hopefully the rest will happen very safely.

Looks like some of them saw their shadow when they came out. 6 more weeks of Winter for Chile?

I cant imagine them having to bad of psyhc issues? It's there job, on a regular basis they might stay down there for long periods of time, and there certainly somewhat used to the atmoshere of the mine. I know people in the navy can be inside those ships without seeing daylight for months on end, especcially submarines and stuff. The only part that would seem traumatizing to me for them would be the intitial shock of the mine collapse and unawereness of being rescued...
    Just my thoughts.

Well, that was the longest time anyone has ever been trapped underground, and to believe that all of them (even the ones with serious health conditions) came up alive and well is just a miracle. What are the odds, considering the possibility of starvation, explosion, collapsing, suffocation, etc.

Ha, I love how it turned into a national pride with all the flags and chanting
Really is a great story though

The two Tasmanian miners came out alright and were all good in the end after 2 weeks in cage as big as a 60' tv. They should all be fine, especially considering they could see, had people to talk with and they can move around.

I agree, they've really done a great job with this.

It got me thinking about the ways other countries save people from certain death...

USA: Throw a grenade at them
    UK: Give them a house.
    France : Surrender to them
Greece: Take out a high-interest loan, use it to take out a bigger loan.
    Germany: Kill everyone else.
Arab nations: Throw various methods of transport at them.
African nations: Start a civil war.
China: Make an identical copy of them breeding.
Japan: Make an identical robotic copy of them.
India: Make a very poor copy of them which is falling apart, and is covered in dirt.
North Korea: Bury them underground, blame South Korea.
    South Korea: Play Starcraft.

Seriously though, I take my hat off to their government and people. If this happened over here it would be inquest, finger pointing, the end of the world, and the dudes probably would still be down there. *pat on the back* to Chile.
