I haven't had any problems in the past with it, only vista but then that comp died and I got back to xp wich still is the best OS for rct2, I'd like to see you doing rct3 though^^
btw, can we talk about the maps you already started? hinthint -

I have Win7 Home Ultimate
the game freezes up on occasion that i have to restart the computer by pressing the on button since NO keys will work. The sound still goes on but the screen gets completely frozen up.
EDIT: I remember that my dad installed some program that turned my whole screen into a XP machine. No windowed hassle. And when I logged out of that using the logout button in the start menu it went back to windows 7.
I'll try to find out what it is -

Dotrobot, I have the EXACT same problem (using Win7 Professional instead of Home Ultimate though). I used to run RCT2 on Vista and never had that problem. I'm trying to find something to prevent this aside from saving often. So far turning my in-game screen resolution down seems to be working (hasn't frozen up yet at 800 x 600 or the next one up, I don't remember which one I used at the moment), but I'd like to test that more before saying it works. -

I'm running rct2 on w7 and its basically gotten to the point where it freezes consistently every time I open a saved game after a few seconds. did anybody ever get a fix for this? -

I tried putting it to 800x600 and that seems to do the trick, although it seems a bit odd on my more widescreen-y laptop -

So i'll be going to uni in September, without the current machine I play RCT on, i'll have a Windows 7 Laptop and an Apple MacBook. Obviously the latter wont play RCT without Windows also installed, which I don't want to do, so does RCT really run smoothly on Windows 7 or is it a case that it will with Virtual Machine installed? -

^see it really is fickle with me whether it will or won't work. it froze (meaning I had to manually reboot the computer) all the time on higher resolution but that seems to be fixed now. trainers seem to work perfectly for me though. for some reason, when i run the game, while its loading my whole screen goes all inverse-y and low resolution and really saturated. but it gets fixed after the game loads, unless of course something stops it loading and the computer stays like that until I reboot. occassionally it also loads the game in really bright saturated color too.
those are the only problems I've experienced though, its actually fairly reliable, at least compared to vista. -

Like giga mentioned, have u tried xp compatibility mode. This is strange, i have windows 7 ultimate and the game runs fine. Scrolling is a little slow but i only have 1gb of ram. the trainers also work on minor hacks for me, although i've never tried any major hacking before. I hope u find a solution.
Edit: i know 1gb sounds like alot but the only game my computer can handle is rct2
Edit 2: sorry for the bump, any news?
