Why don't you get the NO DISC crack? Most of the time when you first open it with the crack it will say wrong disc and there will be a popup. In the pop-up, copy and paste the RCT directory. example "C:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" .. In your case when you get the pop-up it should be something like. "D:\__________________" I've never had the problem with the disc and the only time I had with with the crack was when I first installed the game. It should remember the path after entering it once. Check out megagames.com

The crack should fix it :\

What do you mean Copy and paste the directory in the pop-up?

    Thanks for the help.

You play with the actual game disc correct? When you try to start up the game it tells you to "Insert disc"? Are there any other pop-ups, normally I believe it pops up at the top left of your screen.. Most of the time it's unreadable, or atleast has been for me. lol. If you are getting that pop-up that has a typing box on it. Just copy and paste the url to where the rct2.exe file is located. Which for you would be on the disc, so you would have to open My Computer, Rick click your disc drive that the game is in. Click exlpore, find the rct2.exe. I believe it would be in the english folder? Right click rct2.exe. On the main tab there will be a thing below that says Location. Copy and paste that into the rct pop-up..

I have also uploaded my rct2.exe for you. Make sure you make a backup of the rct2.exe that you are using now. Just either rename it to rct2backup.exe or create a folder to put it in. Once you have done that. Copy and paste this exe over the original once you made the backup. Once copied, open rct and if you get the error, this will definitely bring up the the window where you can type. Just enter the C:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2\rct2.exe ... Your location could be a bit different than mine.

If neither of these work, explain to me exactly everything that happens when you try to open RCT.

When I click the shortcut, the popup comes up in the middle of the screen and simply says "No disc Inserted", with a "retry" and "cancel" buttons. I dunno where to type anything.

I tried it with the no-cd file and it still had the same message...

Nitrous, I don't exactly appreciate you spreading cracks around public forums. If you have to, at least send a PM.

Austin, are you on Win7? Do you have Autostart activated that shows when you insert new media such as the RCT2 disc? If you have it activated and it shows then your CD is fine. I'm guessing for some reason the path to your CD set in the registry where the game will look for the CD does no longer match the actual source. This happened to me the other day. Or, maybe you have more than one DVD drive and happened to use a different one?

Enter your CD, tell me if autostart comes up. If it doesn't, hit windowskey+e to bring up explorer, go to "Computer" and see if you can find the RCT2 disc anywhere there. If it doesn't show at all then it could be damaged.

Nah, when I insert it nothing happens. When I used explorer and went to the CD drive (E), there was nothing in it.
My CD is pretty mangled and sctratched.

I apologize, as far as I knew. No-CD cracks were perfectly legal as long as you own the game and have the original disc. Just as back-up copys of the disc are legal as long as you own the game. I mean, from what I read above he owns the game and sounds like he is pretty screwed and a No-Cd crack is the only way to go, unless he wants to buy another disc. Which I believe if you put out $20-$60 on a game it should be insured for life. But I will not post anymore cracks. ;)

So I pulled out my mothers old, virus infested laptop, It actually recognized the CD, and I installed it, but every time the installation wizard got stuck at 92% on CSS14.dat, gahh.

Might just be that you were a bit too rough on your CD over the years. I'd suggest either trying to rip an image of your RCT2 disc using whatever computer you have that still recognises your disc, or, you can download the game DRM free for $10 at gog.com.

But why should we have to pay for something we have already purchased?
  • Austin55%s's Photo
So I got the popup working, but its when I type "C:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" into it, it says failed or missing or inaccessible data file.
  • posix%s's Photo
I assume you mean the popup where it asks for your disc? You have to give it your drive letter, as in D:\ or E:\
  • Austin55%s's Photo
Both "D:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" and "E:\Program Files\Infogrames\RollerCoaster Tycoon 2" just got a missing or innaccesable data error
  • posix%s's Photo
Well, if it asks for the CD, then just "E:\" is what you must enter. That is, if e:\ is actually the drive in which you inserted the disc.
  • Austin55%s's Photo
I even found a new cd and treid putting it in, when I type D:\ it still say missing or innaccesible file...
  • Austin55%s's Photo
Would it be wise to just uninstall?
  • Louis!%s's Photo
You mean you havent tried a reinstall yet? lol
