General Chat / You Can't Miss _____ in NYC

Hey everyone, it's certainly been a long time since I've posted (and even longer since I've started a topic, whoa), but I thought I would come here for some advice. I'm not sure of how many NYers we have within these forums, but I recently moved to Brooklyn for an internship, staying until at least June, if not longer if I can find permanent (read: paid) work.

Now, I've been to New York multiple times, as my uncle lives in Harrison about a 40-minute train ride upstate, but I've never been here as an independent adult or without any sort of time constraint/agenda to follow. What sorts of things should I be sure not to miss while I'm here? I'm positive I've already done some of the cliche ones people are going to say (i.e. walk the Brooklyn Bridge, High Line, etc), but I'm open to any and all suggestions. I want to make the most of my experience and if any NE folks can help me out, it's greatly appreciated.

Eat at Grimaldi's Pizzaria under the Brooklyn Bridge. It's amazing. Check out Coney Island if/when it opens.

I live in Jersey but go to high school in New York, so I know the city pretty well. There is always a lot to do in the city. I would say you have to visit and explore Central Park, the Met and Museum Mile, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Coney Island (obviously), a Wednesday play, everything in Times Square, Union Square, Museum of Natural History, the former site of the World Trade Center, see the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings, a Yankee (not Met) game, there really are a ton of places and things to do. If you're looking for food, you must try a Shake Shack burger and shake combo; it is the best burger by far I have ever had.
I know this wasn't a very good list. I prefer the baseball fields or basketball courts of Central Park over the tourist sites of Manhattan so I'm never really sure where to send visiting people.
