(Archive) Advertising District / Ghost Park Scenario

On a whim I decided it would be fun to try and build up a little ncso park using actual park management- ie building up the money to build up the park by running the park properly. I formatted a version of the ghost town scenario to do what I want, and I don't really care for ncso purism, so some custom paths/rides/entrances are included. I changed some stuff around (eg, moving more rides to be available at the start, although I still have to research a great deal of them) because I don't really care about a 'fair' scenario but I just wanted the running the park aspect of rct which I miss a little. Anyway, I figure I would upload the park here every building period or so so you can chart my progress.

    Log so far:
-I chose terrible paths. Those are going to need to be parkdat-ed out :p/>
-general theme is going to be western/mexican/whatever, as that fits the spirit of the park and is probably the easiest in ncso :p/>. Maybe a boardwalk/coney island sort of area could develop later.
-damn landscaping is expensive! I can generally theme whenever I want but just coloring to grass is 20 bucks a pop. I keep running out of dough and having to borrow more. Its hard because I want to build rides to make money, but I want to place them nicely so it can come together as a nice park. You can see that I haven't had a positive month yet.
-to do next time: build chairlift across the park, wooden wild mouse, start building up main street area
-longer term goals: large wooden coaster, mine train, maybe a schwarzkopf or something. buy up as much land as possible (I made it so all land outside is buyable). properly landscape the whole scenario so it looks less retarded and so I can build easier on the mountain side (that is going to be pricey!)

seeing as this is the AD, a screen is neccessary (although nothing is complete enough to be interesting):

there may be some weird shops or custom rides so hopefully you have the right stuff :p/>

(also, definitely no need to add this to the DB, as hopefully I'll end up with a nice finished version)

    #1 I can't see the screen.

#2 Adding to the database would be good actually as we can link all the versions together and see a project progress.

#3 Great idea, I think you can take this 'realistic' park management even further. Only building attractions every now and then and letting the game run etc, like a rollercoaster every 3 years, little stuff in the years in between etc etc.

I actually did the same thing a week ago. I got really into the Ghost Town scenario and tried to make it into a cool little NCSO park. Doesn't look as good as yours does though.

At the base, this is just fun! I know this has been mentioned in the past, but we should do a contest like this. Maybe not even a contest, just like a group project. Everyone gets the same base scenario, we have a specific goal (say a certain amount of profit) and we watch them progress, seeing how each differs and what different parkmakers decided to do with the scenario. I would be UBER interested. We could have anyone participating upload saved games at regular ingame intervals so we can compare. It's like an RCT experiment!

Apparently the RCT zeitgeist is working, since I've been doing something similar in LL recently.

Loving all the different types of parks popping up in the Ad recently. It's cool to see people playing the game, not just building parks haha. It's cool, and very nostalgic.

Before I started using custom scenery and trainer, this was my favorite scenario. It still is, because the goal is to build lots of coasters in a small space. And it requires lots of financial management.

Louis- I'll submit it as a collection of parks, I just don't really want 50 or so versions of the same park in the db :p
If you can link it all together that could be good though
Also, those are some...interesting screens :D

That huge station is epic MorganFan. It's pretty rough but I like it a lot.

Cool idea Cocoa, though it seems many of us are doing this exact thing right now ahaha. I agree with Fizzix on how many of us are currently "playing the game" rather than having these intense projects. Perhaps everything is a warm-up for PT4...

Everything looks very good and fun. I like the station for the boomerang, though I wish it were for a better coaster. :p

    update 2

    log:

-finally got a hold of my money a little better. I'm up around 4000 right now, because I've been spending so much time building architecture which just leaves tons of time for money to come in.
-ghost town stretch under way, wooden wild mouse built
-chairlift built. once I start terraforming and using the mountain side, there will be a station where there is now an awkward flat stretch after the dip.
-a couple more flat rides built

the actual architecture isn't anything exciting, just stuff to keep me happy and busy. at the end, I'll probably go through and do some zero clearancing and tidying up stuff so it looks a little nicer.

remember to colour under the paths! great work, looks really fun

Nice wild mouse. I would've liked to see it use more of the mountain behind it though.

    more progress!
-the wooden coaster is built. I had to borrow a ton of money to make it but I've managed to pay it all back and more, so finances are going pretty well
    -more architecture work done
    -ferris wheel
-i used a little beat of sneaky zero clearances to peeps could cross the tram tracks.
-i feel like I should have lost the scenario by now? maybe i set the year way back and didn't realize :p
-anyway, this is a blast to build and pretty quick too. but it may be distracting me from my studies

that's a fun tunnel, looks like a blast. Also #flybys
  • csw%s's Photo
You can't lose this scenario, since it's build 10 coasters, there's no time limit or park rating requirement.
  • Cocoa%s's Photo
^im pretty sure I changed it when I remade it though
  • Kumba%s's Photo
Your no Fatha, but it's nice all the same :p
