(Archive) Advertising District / Six Flags Mississippi

After years (literally, lol) of lurking around here and trying to create something that I feel like is worthy of posting in the ad district, I've finally gotten to the point of saying fuck it, and putting something up for some constructive criticism.

I've worked hard on this entrance plaza over the past few days. It's nothing extravagant, but that's sort of the point. I know people say that Six Flags parks are hard to do, but I don't feel like they really are in the sense that the architecture isn't exactly always over the top, but instead in a lot of cases quaint and nice. That's what I went for here.

Set in Mississippi, I tried to throw in some southern flare with a plantation house style entrance.

Here's an overview...Obviously this isn't complete. I still want some more foliage pretty much everywhere (including trees in that bottom strip, but it's close to being done.

Let me know what you think, more coming soon as I finish up the entrance area and move into the main street.

I didn't expect this, I like it. What I think would make it better is to make the scale a little bit smaller overall, as it will add to the charm and atmosphere imo.

Remember you can use path objects covered with invisible path to break up all the grey a bit. Looking forward to more, gl.

It's nice, but as JJ said, the scale is off. The ticket counters are taller than the peeps

very nice! do you know whats going to go behind those fences though? If I were you, that whole pavement area in the upper left corner would be trees or something, so that there is a natural break between the entrance and the park behind it

Thanks a lot! Yeah I get what you're saying talking about the scale...I have a peep object that I placed in front of the booths, buildings, etc and I have a better idea of the height now. And I actually had no idea that you guys did that with path objects...but it's good to know and I'm going to go through and start doing it now.
Thanks for the luck..I hope I can make some serious progress with this

LOL yeah you saying that got me to do a quick google of Mississippi and now I might lean towards Alabama but my thought process was just a southern US state that didn't have a Six Flags park and this popped in my head

It's nice, but as JJ said, the scale is off. The ticket counters are taller than the peeps

Thanks, I'm gonna go through and lower them now

    I like it :)

Thanks a lot! I've enjoyed your work and downloaded your stuff in the past for inspiration

I appreciate it..and to be honest no I'm not completely sure what's going anywhere at this point lol but I'm starting to plan this out now that I can see it's getting some good reviews. I need to do a better job condensing that area and making it a bit less gray. I'll put some trees in between the park and the fence to make it a bit better.

Working on the main street area now...will post screens soon for comments! :)
