Ask the Experts / 8cars and OpenRCT?

I need to zero clearance some stuff. Yes, i know i can build without the clearance check, but i've run into various problems with things like building a wall on a hill then taking away the hill and building things underwater, as this doesn't work just without the clearance check. I also need to MOM some things. I really need 8cars for this.

Problem being that 8cars doesn't run with OpenRCT.

Is there any way to fix this?

Not that I know of. I think you'll have to alternate between using RCT + 8cars and just OpenRCT. Or just build everything else and wait until those features are implemented (as I assume they will be).

You can load the park in vanilla and use 8Cars there.

You can build under water in openrct. The shift key will lower it into the water.

True, but it's not very suitable for building large structures underwater because of visibility issues. Also you may want to raise the water through scenery that was built before OpenRCT2. Something to think about for the OpenRCT2 developers. I think it would be great if OpenRCT included two types of zero clearance: the one that is currently built-in, and the one that is offered by 8Cars. Why not have both? 8Cars's zero clearances has many more advantages compared to OpenRCT's zero clearances. They're both completely different in their uses.

On my new Win8 computer, RCT2 keeps giving me an error trapper, whereas OpenRCT just works fine. Not an option for me.

I can't make vanilla work either, I just don't use trainers.

8Cars relies on directly editing the game's memory so any changes to the memory layout would break it. Now, I'm not sure exactly how 8Cars does this. OpenRCT2 has to preserve most of the original memory layout until it is no longer calling into the original code (which has lots of hardcoded memory addresses).

I think it would probably be easier to just implement the missing features into OpenRCT2 rather than trying to make it compatible with trainers (if that's even possible). Is source code for 8Cars available? If so you could look at it and see what would need to be done to make it work with OpenRCT2.
