General Chat / Living in Anaheim

Hey guys, I recently accepted a position with the Los Angeles Angels and will be re-locating to Anaheim, CA next month.  I've never been out west, and was wondering if anyone familiar with the area (or more generally LA and SoCal) would be able to give any advice on housing, food, entertainment, the daily commute, etc.

It's expensive. nough said. I live pretty close to the stadium, and there have been some newer apartments/ condos being built near the stadium. If you have the money, it may be wise to not rent and buy because rent prices are a bit expensive.

Traffic sucks, haha. But if you stay local, traffic is not too bad.

Of course you have Disneyland right next door pretty much, lol.

Really just rent prices and traffic will be the down side. Anaheim is pretty much in the middle of everything, so it's not like you have to drive far to enjoy so-cal.

What will you be doing with the angels? :)

Thanks dj!  It's a 6-month internship in their front office with the possibility of full-time employment afterwards (basically my only chance of staying out there haha)

What would you consider a reasonable rent for the area within 5-15 miles of the stadium?  I've been looking at places in Irvine, Tustin, and Orange in the ballpark of $1200/month

That's pretty much the average... I forget the website, but you could find places that are just looking for room mates, so that could make your rent much cheaper. Living in Anaheim has the cheaper one bed room/ studio apartments Irvine, although nice, will be a hassle for commuting. Same with Tustin. Staying close and saving money would be the best bet.

OH, you'll need to be aware that gas prices here in California are pretty outrages too, so be prepared to be paying 3 dollars a gallon in the future. Possibly even 4.
