Ask the Experts / Train crashes going backwards over merged track

Right, I'm currently busy trying to recreate a certain coaster that's going to open soon. I think I've nearly got it! Everything works, including the backwards lifthill. There is just one problem.... The coaster needs merged track, and that's fine, that's easy with ORCT2s new and easy way to do. Thanks for that! The train goes perfectly over the track the right way, but since it's a shuttle, it also needs to go backwards, and there's the problem. It won't go. It doesn't recognise the merged track going backwards which results in it crashing.
Any solutions for this problem?

You can only merge on direction using the OpenRCT method. You'll have to use the MOM method, using two track pieces, to merge in both directions. There is a tutorial on this subform somewhere, probably one of the top threads.

I've used the MOM method before so that's no problem, only a nuisance. Thanks for the help!

If the ride editing window in 8cars works with your version of windows, no need to go through the MOM hassle. -

Merging with the ride editing window? Don't think I've heard that one before, do you have a link to a tutorial for it?

Ride edit window only works on Windows XP or before, on Windows 7, 8 or 10(probably) you'll need the MoM method.

I've just tested it and had no difficulty doing this with OpenRCT2. You just have to do the merge in both directions (so you'll have two overlapping track pieces instead of one).

Ah, okay. I just wasn't sure if it was possible or not, haven't ever tried it.I've just tested it and had no difficulty doing this with OpenRCT2. You just have to do the merge in both directions (so you'll have two overlapping track pieces instead of one).
