Ask the Experts / How to make custom carousels?

  • RCThibo%s's Photo

I've seen a lot of custom carousels that make use of car rides and stuff like that, like here:

    https://www.nedesign...kiddie-kingdom/

And I'd like to know how to make those, because I'd like to make some in my parks.

Those Carousels use a shoestring hack: https://www.nedesign...tring-tutorial/

Ive made two versions of a carousel here is the save on how its done: Attached File  Setup Track Custom Carousel.7z (1.4MB)

    It's not a shoestring.

if you want it guestable it is. otherwise just merge your ride into a circle like this:

Then delete the dummy track and make the dummy station invisible.

Yeah that's what I tried before but it kept crashing when I tried to delete/test/open the ride.

Also, this is off-topic but I don't think it's worth making an entirely new topic for it:

I'm trying to make a custom Frisbee ride (like here: https://www.nedesign...t/4140/typhoon/ ), but for some reason I can't change the number of circuits. I'm using OpenRCT2 and I have Unlock Operating Limits enabled.

Wait, it isn't? I'd also like to know how it's done,

    @X7123M3-256

You just use the method I showed you.

Or if you want guests permanently on it, just change the mode to boat hire, wait for full load then dispatch. Although you must be running the ride closed, because if not you will not be able to get stats for any more rides

Nicman, I tried doing it the non-peepable way but it keeps crashing...

I don't follow how that works though - it looks like the cars will get stuck in an infinite loop and never return to the station.

    Exactly. That's why it isn't peep-friendly.

That's what its supposed to do. Otherwise shoestring it.

@RCThibo, send me the save and il take a look. I am not sure why it doesn't work.

Are you using OpenRCT2 or vanilla? If the latter you need to set the ride to boat hire or another mode that does not check for a complete circuit, otherwise the game gets stuck in an infinite loop. OpenRCT2 seems to have fixed this.

Well it kinda happens in every single save (even new parks) so yeah I don't think sending a save will help.

    I use OpenRCT2.

Just a word of caution that I've had issues in LL where a ride that doesn't return to station can corrupt future ride construction.
  • RCThibo%s's Photo

I don't use LL. But anyways, I got it to work, I don't know why it didn't work before.
