Ask the Experts / My attempted entrance

Hey fellas, a few of you might know me but this is the first time I've posted on NE... dnet is going down in a great flaming wreck so yeah.

Anyways, I'm makin this south-west styled park and for the entrance I made this spanish mission style (at least that's what I tried) courtyard and such, with what's supposed to be flowers designed like a Navajo blanket. The thing is, I like it which is what matters most to me, but I just don't think the flowers look that great but want to keep that general idea in the courtyard. Any suggestions?

I think it looks really good. The flowers in the middle of the courtyard are the best thing in the screen though.

    It's... ok. Here's some tips

    1. Don't use the same land type underneath the paths as the rest of the land were the path is, it gives it more contrast.
    2. Vary the colors more in your archy - variety is always a good thing.
    3. Grass can look good in some themes, some of the time, but in this case; try to avoid using grass were ever possible, especially in gardens.
    4. Try using slightly denser foliage in the areas were there aren't any rides/buildings/ect.

Also, many people use jagged terrain [also known as the ''NE rock style''] in the areas I mentioned in #4. I suggest you do the same. If you don't know what I mean by the ''NE rock style'', look at any of the NE spotlights to see it.

The building(s) look good, its everything else around it that doesent quite fit in. The ground around a spanish mission generally isnt red. Its more of the darker colored sand. It would be much better to use red for something like a mountain. Fruit and "garden style" trees dont fit into a spanish park either. If you must use trees other than cactuses and shrubs, use more conventional (common) trees like firs. The garden in the middle of the courtyard is a nice idea, yet I am not totally sure the entrance is the best place for it. Still, I think it would enhance the flowers looks much more if they were just...... well, smaller. Replace the edges of that flower area with more paths. At LEAST double wide, single paths just look so ugly to me. In an entrance area, there will be many people (this is talking from a realistic perspective) and you dont want to channel them into tiny little paths.

Not a bad start, but it can be improved.
