General Chat / Nevermore...Blowing Up the Bandwagon

    Hello.

    Ok...

I don't have a whole hell of a lot to discuss today, but I figured I'd get something up to address some issues that have been going around here lately...

Goddamn it, Raven. If I had mod-powers in here i'd have wiped you off the face of Basic Chat! :D

    I love you too mantis...

As far as these "articles" go...

Ummm, yeah. What the hell is going on here? I know people have things to say, but cursealot's "article" was undescribable for me...

I don't know whether or not to be flattered and very egotistical, or appaulled and very egotistical. These are all things I don't experience much, so it is weird.

I personally liked QOTSA's better, and not because he kisses ass. He wrote good jibberish that I enjoyed.

    Cursealot, stick to the walkthroughs...
    GOD's sounds promising.

As far as ADIX saying that "you all suck cock-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo-a-doodle-doo", he was just defending my inability to lash out at someone because I feel I have been ripped off in some way.

    He's the man...

A few other notes to go along with personal interests here...

The Lewis fight was the biggest fix I have ever seen. The finish was total bullshit, and though the ref stopped the fight due to the boxer's ability to finish, Klitschkow would have and was pummelling the fuck out of Lewis. I also think he would have gone on with the cut and everything. I know I would have...

I hope there is a rematch, because the big russian was definitely going to win the fight, albeit points or just continuing his relentless assault on our "champion's" face.

But since Lewis is probably now afraid to step in the ring with anyone who can contend with him that isn't over 35, he will definitely be ducking Klitschkow from now on, until they innevitably meet again, in which Lewis will obv beat him due to what I like to call "The Fix".

In my opinion, boxing is just as bad if not worse then pro-wrestling. Atleast in wrestling 98% of the the people know it's fake...

    In site-related news...

It seems Xcite (aka Dominic) is at his old tricks again...
You can read about it here. It appears that this time he is ripping off BGTKing.

Will this madness ever stop? I feel sorry for the people he is making group parks with...

The Second Edition of the NE Blaze Battle is about to begin. If you think you have the "mad rhyming sk1llz", sign up today. I am too much of a pussy to enter, because of a few reasons...

    1. I would get downright vicious and verbally attack my opponent harshly. To the point where they would flame me everytime I posted. I would talk about raping and murdering family members and such.

    2. I am not to good with the "urban" lingo, so I wouldn't do too well with the slang and ebonics I'd probably have to use. I am more familiar with "I will kill you and your sister and then fuck her in front of you with a knife."-type of lyrics...

    Yeah...

Anyway, if you got the mad rap sk1llz, I suggest you join, so I can laugh at how horrible and would-be off-beat most of your rapping is...

I recently decided to do a review of a random horror series for you all...
The said series is the Wishmaster series...

    Wishmaster
    - The film starts off...

Fuck it, this movie was absolute stains. The Djinn make-up was awesome and Andrew Divoff did a good job playing the Djinn, but his performance was overshadowed by 2 hours of bad movie. It's a cryin' shame too.

    Wishmaster 2- Evil Never Dies
    - The hits just keep on coming with this one. This chapter in the Djinn saga is actually not that bad story-wise, but what it makes up for in story, everything else falls flat on it's genie ass. The acting is mediocre, the tits are too small, and the make-up for the Djinn is utter dog shit in this one, not to mention the craptastic ending that baffles the mind of anyone who watched the first one.

Wishmaster 3- Beyond the Gates of Hell
    - Finally! The series is going somewhere...

Or so I thought. This entry begins with yet another horrible continuity problem and drags for the first 20 minutes or so. This time, everything about this movie is pretty good, except the fact that Andrew Divoff is no longer the Djinn and they gave the new Djinn ears so big that they rival any elephant. Not too much of a problem as you never really see the Djinn much throughout the coarse of this movie. It's mostly his human form played by Jason Connery (yes, Sean's son). This one was a lot better then the first 2.

    Wishmaster 4- The Prophecy Fulfilled
    - In this installment, which should be the last (I hope), we find ourselves on the same campus the 3rd movie took place at. Of coarse total random students fiond the crystal the Djinn is in and release him unknowingly (yet again). The good thing about this movie (other than lots of T&A) is the fact that in the end sequence, the Djinn race actually starts to take over the earth in what is a marvelous CGI meltdown. Unfortunately it is cut short by lone hero and heroin who save they day yet again bafling the the minds of anyone who has followed the series. Djinns ruling the world would have been a great ending to the series, but of coarse you can have a shitty horror franchise without a shitty finish.

Overall, though Divoff's Djinn was awesome, the first 2 were utter pooh, while 3 and 4 were moderately decent for bad horror movies. If any of you ever have 6 hours to kill and about $15 to totally waste, I suggest picking these 4 movies up from the video store.

If you can get past the first 2 without killing yourself or putting a baseball bat into your TV, you will be happier with the last 2. They make up for...well they don't but you know what I mean. I apologize for not going into detail with these reviews, but trust me when I tell you, I spared your lives by doing so...

My next series review will either be the Friday the 13th series or the George Romero Dead series (Night, Dawn, and Day).

Well i wish thre was mroe to report, but I really don't feel like looking through the Advertising District to tell you all about the cool upcoming projects...

    ehh..

    What the hell...

RCT Flame's Mexican Mission is available for download and review here.
Other then 2 horrendous things (the fucked up rapids and too many close trees), it's a very good park.

RCT Flame continues his weird parkmaking with Project Mono.

Thorpedo2589 continues to impress with his Beautizian Hills found here. Though there is only 1 screen, it's pretty bad-ass if you ask me.

Marshy and Metropole are hard at work on their awesome ode to John Williams.

And last but not least, High Rollers screens can be found right here.

If you have an upcoming park you'd like me to review or do a synopsis from screens, just drop me a line on AIM, PM, or e-mail and I will tell whether or not your work is shit or not in a public forum...

To jump on the bandwagon and copy someone, I will be finishing my walkthrough I started ages ago for Kai's Forge of Trog'Akor (sp?) and Drakewood Amusement Park (which IMHO is the best RCT 2 park to date and it pre-dates custom scenery). I forgot who did Drakewood, so will the real Slim Shady please stand up...

    - I didn't know this was being made, but when I saw this today, I almost blew a load. This is a great H.P. Lovecraft story that is already a mediocre movie, but this remake seems to be totally based on the original story. Holy shit people....This is going to fucking rock!!!

    CD of the Day
    Finger Eleven- Finger Eleven
    - OK. For the band's fourth release, they took a litle departure from the heavy side they went for on their last effort. Though it is a bit softer then their last, the CD and the band continue to fucking rock. HIGH TIMES is obviously a good track as well as the rest of the CD for that matter. The band is very good and they don't disappoint with the new disc. 8 out of 10.

    Movie of the Day

    - I actually saw this last year on KaZaA when it was in UK theatres. This is HANDS DOWN THE BEST ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!! I saw a sneek preview last night with my g/f and it was ten times better on the big screen. Danny Boyle is a fucking genius and this movie is NOT TO BE MISSED!!! Some gore was taken out for the US cut naturally, but it is still an intense movie. Horror movie of the Year candidate. Take a date to this...

    Well...

That's all I have for today...

    Until the next exciting episode...
    I love you all,

Anyways, I've been thinking of doing a column for quite a while so yeah. Besides, mine will survive, and it's more RCT focused. Anyways, good stuff.

    BTW, isn't it Finger Eleven's 3rd release, not 4th?

    Hello.

I haven't stopped writing this one yet have I?

Instead of being rivals, we should work together or collaborate or something...

I am offering a truce of sorts, though we aren't fighting or anything...

    It's Finger Eleven's 3rd Major Label release...
They had an indie release before Tip and it was also self-titled...

Not really rivals, but oh well. I think OZONE's thing was one-time, seeing as he was bored.

Anyways, how about I stick to (mostly) RCT and you stick to (mostly) misc. stuff?

How about everyone writes whatever the fuck they want?

    I :hottie: you too, Raven.

I believe it was Madhollander who made Drakewood, which is also one of my favorite RCT2 parks because of its realisticness, and because it used no custom scenery. Mind sending that over to me at Impuls3@rctfrequency.com ? I lost it in my last computer crash.

The fight was definitely a fix. Lennox Lewis will sell a hell of a lot more tickets the Klitscho. The fact is, Lennox Lewis is a much better fighter then Klitscho, but he did not prepare himself for the fight, and was unbelivably out of shape. This was Kiltscho's chance, and they took it away from him. If Lewis gets himself back in shape and back around the 245-248 mark, he'll most likely knock Vitali out. Anyways, I do see a rematch coming, but like I said, Lewis will win this time.
Although I must admit, with Roy Jones Jr. being my favorite boxer of all time, I am dying to see him fight Lewis.

Lewis epitomizes fighting down to the level of your opponent. He rarely dismantles lesser fighters the way he should and this is not the first time in his career he has gone into a fight so grossly under-prepared. However, put the guy in with the better fighters out there (not that there really is anyone else atm) and he suddenly looks like one of the great tactical fighters of all time. I'd love to see the Roy Jones Jr fight, but I have a hunch Lewis would come up with one of his greater efforts and destroy the smaller fighter. Does anyone else remember Tyson vs Spinks?

And the movie wasn't all that good.
Except for the Finnish people in the end. They were "tha kuulis'".

You like mine better...cool. I need all the complements I can get to keep on my prospective path of becoming a writer. And, um, feel flattered. Imitation is the finest form of flattery, you know. Besides, I remember the time Termite got pissed because I tried my own "Guess the Coaster". Don't be like him. He's decidedly uncool.

    ...yeah.

On another note, Klitschko didn't have a cut--that shit was a fucking crater of blood. I couldn't look at it, that was nasty shit.

I saw '28 Days Later' today and I really enjoyed it. It's been awhile since I saw a new movie in the theater that I really enjoyed so I'm definately relishing it. It was a bit different than I was led to believe which was fortunate because I was expecting a zombie movie. To me this was only loosely a zombie movie and not a movie for fans of that genre I think. It owes much more to the post-apocalyptic survival genre which happens to be my favorite genre. Reviewers keep citing Romero's Dawn of the Dead but I saw a lot more similarity to Richard Matheson's classic vampire survival/horror novel 'I Am Legend'. It has a similar setup and tone and certain scenes are clearly borrowed from the novel whether it was intentional or not.

The weakest aspect of the movie was the horror element I think. There wasn't all that much action and much of it was hard to see or consisted of the always enjoyable 'object flashes quickly past the camera accompanied by quick orchestral burst' moment repeated about 20 times. There really wasn't much gore for a movie of this type and there was very little suspense. The video look didn't help things either. It was shot that way to look grimier no doubt, but jagged edges and video artifacts on a big screen never look good regardless of intent. I prefer the stylized ugly/beautiful treated film look of movies like Se7en and Saving Private Ryan.

However, the reason I really liked the movie was the atmosphere. Like I said, I'm a big fan of post-apocalyptic movies and this one really played up the themes of isolation and survival that run through the best post-apocalyptic works. Of course the empty city shots have been done before but it's always an image that touches me emotionally. It represents absolute freedom and absolute lonliness at the same time. It's fascinating. Obviously the movie did not have a large budget and the settings become quite ordinary as the story progressed but by then I was interested enough in the characters not to mind. There isn't a lot of time devoted to character but the little there is was effective I thought and the acting was good enough that I cared about the characters on more than just a superficial level. At the end it becomes a bit too Rambo-inspired for my tastes and the actual ending was a bit of a let down but that's a minor problem for me. There were enough memorable images in the first half of the movie to make me happy as I left the theater. I saw HULK yesterday and while I enjoyed that, watching this movie made HULK look stale in comparison. 28 Days Later really played to all of my personal tastes. Some stories always impact you no matter how many times you hear theme revised and retold and this is one of them for me. Quality movies with post-apocalyptic themes are few and far between and while the movie wasn't perfect, it was certainly above average and I only wish it had lasted longer.

BTW/ If anyone is interested, there's a very good screenplay based on 'I Am Legend' that can be found online. Actually, there are two but the one by Mark Protosevich is the good one. It's a very good read. You can get it here: PDF TXT

I would watch 28 Days Later if I wasn't so scared of...well...scary films.

I went to see Dark Water last friday and it was petrifying. Maybe i'm just not cut out for these films.

On the bright side i've overcome my fear of the Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid.

Hrmm. I might have to actually watch "28 Days Later" now that everyone is raving about it.
When the trailers first started, it looked great - a post-apocalyptic horror from the guy who did Trainspotting and Shallow Grave (and also The Beach, but let's not talk about that one).
Then I heard the word "zombies".
Then I heard the movie sucked big time.

    So I never watched it.
Still, I always had a hard-on for post-apocalyptic shit ever since I watched The Omega Man when I was a kid (I watched it again a few months ago - cheesiest shit I've ever seen). So I shall go rent [download it from kazaa] it.

But really. The best zombie movie ever will be the one that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright (two of the geniuses behind Spaced - which had an episode based on Resident Evil involving all manner of zombie killing) are making. And you fucking know it.
