RCT Discussion / New Element Multiplayer - Busch Gardens Down Under

  • shnupz%s's Photo

BelgianGuy brought up the idea in the discord, so I think it'd be nice to share ideas for it here. It would essentially be themed to Australia, New Guinea and New Zealand. I think it could work, but there needs to be a push to finish the other multiplayer parks (MI2 when?). There would be major challenges including the indigenous cultures of the three countries into the park properly and there's also a lack of tree objects that look remotely like eucalyptus, wattle, banksia etc

Current ideas for park areas include:

Main Street - Sydney is probably the best way to theme it but in general the cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide have a lot of lovely colonial Victorian and neo-gothic architecture. Sydney has it's iconic harbor bridge and opera house, Melbourne has Flinders Street Station and Collins Street (and other similar historic areas) and Adelaide has Stoksy (check out his Luna Park project!) and wine.

Bushland - http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/ this but with rides. There's plenty of towns in Victoria and NSW ripe with gold rush era and colonial architecture and ideas. Echuca, for example, still has steamboats which do tours up and down the Murray River, would be comfy to have in the park. Ned Kelly, the Great Dividing Range, steamboats, bushfires. This is a large swathe of the country and is essentially the region on google maps that's still kinda green but not on the coast.

Kimberly Ranges - a chunk of Western Australia with a really unique landscape, perfect for a Cheetah Hunt clone. You could probably include the town of Broome into it somehow. Historically it was a pearl diving town. You could expand out and include more of WA but it's really empty until you hit Geraldton and Perth down south.

Outback - The massive expansive fuckhuge area of nothing in the middle of Australia. This is where you see the red sands, Uluru, deserts, Alice Springs, cattle stations and a fuckload of mines, dingoes, emus, kangaroos and infamously small towns with no water. Notable is the town of Coober Pedy.

Tropics - New Guinea itself is somewhat hard to theme, the island is split in two and West Papua is a mess with an ongoing genocide, and PNG is uh, one of the worst former colonies outside of Africa. The island shares a lot of biodiversity with Australia, they were once connected by land bridge. There are over 200 languages and tribal/ethnic groups on the islands and the biggest city would be Port Moresby. The only notable landmark I can think of is the Kokoda Trail.
North East Australia in the state of Queensland and the Northern Territory offer a lot of diversity for themeing and rides. Look up the cities of Darwin and Cairns, the Daintree national park and the Whitsunday isles. This corner of the globe is home to a huge amount of bio and cultural diversity, there's a lot to draw from.

New Zealand - Comfy country. Maori people have a Polynesian culture and the islands are mainly known for cute birbs, sheep farming, art deco (look up the city of Napier, it's amazing) and vampires. Major cities include Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Tasmania - Tasmanian tigers and devils, the cute little shits that are extinct and endangered respectively. The entire island was more or less a giant prison, https://en.wikipedia...rthur,_Tasmania is a cool place to look into. Temperate forests and breathtaking landscapes dominate the island

Marine Park - Either a waterpark or basically just Sea World Australia but good. The Great Barrier Reef is incredibly iconic and huge, but also of note is the Torres Strait, Christmas Island and the extensive surf culture of Australia. the Great Ocean Road would be interesting to see.

Zoo - JWAK: Multiplayer edition AKA Tahendo Australia. https://www.zoo.org.au/healesville for inspiration.

    Ideas for rides:

Bushfire/Bushranger - Wooden coaster. GCI? (or maybe an RMC and just ripoff Wildfire?). Bushland area

Wanjina - Cheetah Hunt esque ride set in the Kimberly Ranges of Western Australia. the Wanjina are cloud/rain spirits in Aboriginal myth. If anybody can think of a better name for a ride in the area, it definitely needs something more intimidating. Kimberly Area

Toroa/Albatross - B&M invert or flyer? Would be the main ride of a New Zealand area. Making it a B&M Dive was suggested too. Arrow suspended would be cool.

??? - Mine train ride themed to the opal mines of Coober Pedy. Most of the town's buildings are built into or under the earth to insulate them, it looks cool. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but it's Busch Gardens, Australian and with a lot of cutaway view into mine shafts similar to North Fork? Opal mines aren't conventional mines, they are essentially just holes in an otherwise flat ground. Maybe a little nod to the unfinished Orphan Rocker? Outback Area

    Drop Bear - B&M dive. If we don't have a drop bear ride there's no point to this park. At the very least a launch tower ;w;

Thylacene - A Tasmania section was proposed, so this is probably the best ride name you can get out of it. It's the official name for the Tasmanian tiger. Schwartzkopf looper?

Crocodile/The Bat? - Tropical area needs a coaster. B&M Hyper? Arrow suspended going through the rainforest treetops kinda like Eagle fortress and Big Bad Wolf had a baby?

Great White/Irukandji - Arrow Looper? B&M looper? (Don't tell Stoksy tho). Marine area

Overall there's a lot of potential, so throw your ideas out and let's have fun <3

I'd say - don't have clones. Busch don't do clones, as far as I'm aware.

  • Cocoa%s's Photo
Bgt has 3 clones atm, more if you count the Chinese sheikra

Hey this is a good idea.

If I put BGUSA up like this on a server, do you think people would finish it for me?

  • In:Cities%s's Photo

If its rct2, i'd hop on it. Just harass/remind me on discord.

The Chinese SheiKra came after the original, hence why we refer to it as the Chinese SheiKra. The only clones they have are older/smaller clones with the exception of the plug-and-play Skyrocket 2.

^no one cares dude. It’s not a big deal.

We've already got some sick layouts built. I'm completely fine with cloning layouts but of course it's more fun to design them yourself. I also feel like we need a humongous lake in the center, or at least some kind of huge body of water.

  • shnupz%s's Photo

I have the layouts moved over to sho tour 2 which is ready to be hosted on a server whenever. Just dm me here or on discord and I'll send the file through

And yeah impulse I think a lake would be a great way to segregate the areas while also having a convenient marine/reef section. Maybe something like IoA that's more long and skinny? Might help out the composition, easy to make bridges and such
