Ask the Experts / Entrance

Well, I recently started park designing, and I discovered I had some talent for theming. This evolved into the idea of "Extravaganza Infinitum", whose entrance I'm featuring here. 3 areas are currently planned: Court of Miracles (Medieval), Galactic Conquests (Futurist area themed after the Perry Rhodan books) and Era of Legends (A classical roman/greek with a reproduction of the pantheon).

    Shot 1 (165k)
    Shot 2 (120 k)

I couldn't cram the whole "Welcome to Extravaganza Infinitum" text into one baner, so I had to split it, but I think the result is cool. There are also some beginner's attempt at Jagged Rock Style on each sides, from lack of better ideas8@

Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.

FYI, this belongs in the "Advertising District".

and the screens...My biggest suggestion would be to not over use those fountains. IMO, they look really ugly in ALL parks. But, if you like them, keep them.

    Few things.

    1. This belongs in Park Advertisements.

    2. You don't have a talent for theming, you need some work.

    3. Your jagged rocks aren't that bad, but they don't really fit in with the surroundings either.

Just keep practicing, and study some of the spotlight parks by parkmakers to improve.

Sorry, I just wanted to put some background information. I'm not planning to post it into advertising until I get around at least half a zone.

I know I still need practice. I just meant it turned out much better than I expected it (Though my "exercises" were totally different lol)

Natelox, you have a suggestion as to what should I replace the fountains with? (I don't like plain 1x1 patches of water, and a 3x3 path is too much for me.) Simple trees, maybe?

This is in the exact right forum. It's not an advertisment, it's him asking for help.
Besides, Freak, he does have talent in my eyes. More than you do.
Circéus, it's a good thing that you want to wait with advertising until you've done more.
As for the screens, I kind of like them. Of course, they are a bit noob-ish and helpless but when you look over that, I think there's something in it. Most likely it's originality, I don't know.
Anyway, for your first park, this is perfectly fine. When you're new to RCT experimenting is the best you can do. Just try to have fun with the game and don't expect yourself to make excellent parks. The more parks you do the better you get. Simple as that.
You can of course get inspiration from "The List" but be careful not to copy other's parks.
I'm looking forward to your improvements.

Ah, you have a poor opinion of me.

Trust me. I'll get over it.

let´s not discuss who sucks more, or who COULD be better, or whatever. It would turn into a bitchfight.

    And guess what I want...

WME as a peacemaker. That's hilarious.
Anyway, I just found it rude to tell a new member who seems to be eagerly trying to get into RCT how much he sucks at RCT and that he'd have no talent at all. And, as this isn't true, I just had to bitch.

UHHHH that sphinx in screen 2 looks horrible be gone be gone, lol

anyway you have some potential but it needs some developement, but not a bad start

looks like you trying to over-theme, i did that to once, just be patient with it

    thats my 2 cents

Adam, if you ever do that again, I don't know what I'm going to do with you. Damn you!
    I guess I need some originality... 8@

We really need to start using this forum right, seems the "experts" listed never really reply and it ends up being others.

Ok, I really think the entrance shows some promise. Its got a great atmosphere to it, nice gardens and statues mixed in. Im with nate though, the fountains everywhere kinda ruin it.
  • Circéus%s's Photo
Justso you know, I've reworked it quite a lot. I'll post screenshots weif I get around around making.

I left some fountains (4, I think) and harmonized the patches (used quarter flowers and bushes). I've also added bins/lights/benches.

I'll post a pic of my Great Wu-Ying Pagoda too. That was much harder to build than I expected.

    Screenshots as promised:

    Reworked Entrance
As you can see, I added the benches/lights/bins and harmonized flower patches. The sphinx is gone too and replaced with a tree lining. I'm not sure using all the same colors was a good idea.

    The Great Pagoda of Wu-Ying
With part of the station building for Big Trouble. I'm not sure yet about the path linings in the park, so I'm leaving that for later.

    Entrance to Little China
Do you see now why I named the woodie "Big Trouble"? Anyway, the Great Wall was my only idea for a separation *sweatdrop*

    Part of Big Trouble
The ride is set in one of these chinese peaky mountainside spreaded with isolated temples ad villages. I'm not sure if I used the right ground/trees combination to get to the result I wanted, though.

    The village of Xiao Be
I wanted to put a nice river, and the villlage somehow just got there naturally...

Comments, suggestions and flammes are encouraged.
