    Is there anyway to burn something like a .avi movie file into DVD format on a disk so I can watch it on a DVD player?

    seriously adam, give us the instructions. Do you mean that you can burn .avi onto a normal 700mb cd, and have it play in a DVD player? amazing. I want to do it.
    btw, I have Nero 5.8, a bunch of blank cd's, 4 DVD players, and a few movies that i would like to view on my tv. :D... I just don't have a DVD burner. :(

    No.

    If the DVD player can play SVCD or VCD disks, just burn one of those in Nero... If not, it's a little more complex.
    Specifically speaking, you're going to need some DVD authoring software to create the various .VOB etc. files.

    Google is your friend.

    I just don't have a DVD burner. 

    You can burn DVD format CDs so you can watch all your budgie porn movies on a DVDplayer.
