Custom Scenery Exchange / Nature Palettes

  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo

Below are color palettes meant for specific biomes. There is a palette for each type of land (excluding dirt, grey rock, and red rock), and there are two for dirt/grass (forest and jungle). Just place the DAT files in your object folder. Hope you enjoy.

EDIT: Only the water colors are changed in these palettes. So all the other old and new colors in openRCT work normal and well.

These are so cool. Coast and forest are my favorites

  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo
Glad you like it, Gustav. Have fun.

Would you be able to make a mowed grass land type? That way the grass would always stay mowed.

  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo

^ I can see how that could be useful to some players. But I’m afraid that’s above my knowledge level for custom scenery. Water palettes are easy and explained well by Deurklink: https://www.youtube....h?v=2epMQ_6tU1s

UPDATE: I improved the water color for iceland. It will not replace the old iceland DAT file, as that was named "WTRECOI," and this DAT is named "WTRECO4". So place the DAT file you see below in the object folder as normal. Enjoy.

NOTE: Only the water colors are changed in this palette. So all the other old and new colors in openRCT work normal and well.

This is beautiful. Would absolutely use this water color.

Only thing I'd even consider changing in this palette would be the overall snow/ice texture to be less blue. Though I know how challenging that is to do without sacrificing other colors.

    Great work Timothy

  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo

Thanks, friend. My intent was to keep the old and now new colors with the exception of the water. And I also figured the waters from each palette can be used in any various combination.

Here's how some of the other land types look with the new ice water:

Looks quite cool. The aspect your coming at this from is very isolated however. Would be good to get these tested.

  • Timothy Cross%s's Photo

^ If by testing you mean seeing how the palettes look in built parks, I don't really build at the moment. But I did take some screen shots of other parks using the palettes and I'm giving full credit to the creators. I hope I'm not breaking any rules by doing so. Furthermore, these creators build much better than I ever have.

Looks interesting Tim. I see they are much more subtle palettes than I had assumed from your own example screens above. Even when applied to existing parks where the creator didn't intend to use them, they are quite unintrusive which is a good sign.

  • In:Cities%s's Photo

Yeah, I really like the coastal one used with seaquarium. Nice work!

where can I get these p-arks

where can I get these p-arks

It's just a palette. the parks are already on the site to download. Just look up the creators' names.
