    Round 1 Wrap-up

Round 1 voting has now concluded, and the players competing in the Quarter-Finals are now all set! Congratulations to those who came top in their groups, some of which were fiercly fought, and commiserations to those who have been sadly eliminated from the competition. As a reminder, players who came in third place shall be eligible as replacement for Round 2 so long as they submit a map in time. Any dropouts will be filled by random selection from the field of replacement entries.

See below for the updated bracket. Attached to this post also is a poll asking your favourite winning parks from this round and which matches were your favourite. Feel free to post your thoughts on Round 1, predictions for Round 2, and favourite parks of the round overall in the comments below.

Huge props to all the homies who made big upsets and live to see another day. So happy seeing Rob, Hex, and MorganFan make it out. Wish I could be up there with you guys but I'll root from the sidelines and farm the bonus round. Super super excited to see what all of you have in store. QF3 is going to be a revelation.

Top 3 from each division for me:

    Red:

    Sand Carts

    War & Courage

    Time's Arrow

    Yellow:

    China Blue

    The Stranger

    Mech Hangar 2

    Blue:

    Picasso Sour

    Salon Tichy

    Botanical Tower

Top of the round is prob Picasso Sour or Salon Tichy, utterly obsessed with both!

As for QFs, some of these groups are completely nuts. QF1 if nin, Tols and Cocoa bring it will be deadly. QF3 is gonna be a bloodbath.

I don't think I've ever been as excited for QFs in RCT ever. There are some serious matchups about to happen.

If players bring it and adapt to the new size limit and also get their entries done in a good amount of time, we could be seeing the quality up itself again, which is scary!

    My R1 Top ten

    1. Salon Tichy – WhosLeon

    2. Picasso Sour – FK

    3. 80s Anemoia – Xiscor

    4. The Koi Pond – Xtreme

    5. War and Courage – Nin

    6. Botanical Tower – Raunchy Russel

    7. China Blue – AVC

    8. The Killing Joke – Iretont

    9. Sagan 4 Launch – Splitvision

    10. Paoblo Escabar – RobDedede

    QF Predictions

    QF1 – Nin and Iretont take 1st and 2nd (Nin 1st)

QF2 – Ziscor and Pants win their round (Ziscor 1st)

QF3 – AVC and Hoobaroo win theirs (Hoobs 1st)

QF4 – A huge threeway battle between Split, Mama and In:cities (Split 1st, Mama snatching the win)

QF5 – Whosleon and FK getting the big wins (Leon 1st), all players in the match showing up big time

QF6 – Xtreme taking 1st, Gill taking 2nd. Another perfect entry from Xtreme

    Good luck to everyone.

What an excellent R1, I feel like so many people just full-on sent it with their ideas. Such a wealth of excellence in both creativity and execution all around.

Ranking a top selection of the winning entries was is hard, not only because of the overall quality, but because my favorites are as such for very different reasons. But ultimately I think I’d have to say:

    1. Salon Tichy—WhosLeon
    2. Koi Pond–Xtreme97
    3. 80s Anemoia—Ziscor

I’m almost a little surprised I ended up liking 80s Anemoia as much as I do, but I think it’s the one that grew on me the most. I find myself going back to look at this one pretty frequently. It might be my favorite aesthetically and atmospherically; I just wish there were a bit more to it. A full Design in this style without the tile constraints of an MM contest would be off-the-charts amazing.

Other high-rankers for me are Sand-Powered Carts by Cocoa and Temple of Tangled Tempests by MorganFan. Honestly, though, all the winning entries are incredibly good!

For best overall group, I think I have to go with Group G—even though there were only three entries, they were all soooo good, and they also had completely different aesthetics and vibes.

Overall, a fantastic Round 1, made better by the fact that so many entries achieved commensurate quality through entirely different means.

Can't remember there being this amount of contest buzz, or this amount of top top players active and building against each other at once. Maybe it's the format, quicker builds, more momentum... feels more exciting than H2H ever did. Loving it you guys thanks for all the parks.

Top 2 are Salon Tichy and Koi Pond, for me.
