You can just guess every player on the team and technically end up correct minus the bonus points. You should get -1 if you have more wrong than right.

no... if point totals of players adds up to more than 10 then your guess is thrown out. 

Correct guesses should be worth as many points as the players are worth! Otherwise it might be worthwhile to just check as many lowest ranking players as you can each round, and you might outscore people who correctly deduce top players simply through chance!

 

I think this makes sense, but kind of weights the higher point players too much perhaps. Else you could pick the 5 and 4 pointers every round and pick up some points inevitably. Would getting that many points outweigh the advantage of getting multiple 1-pointers correct by just voting lower point players? It's an interesting one, will see tomorrow if the point allocations should switch up, it's still early enough.

That doesn't make much sense since a correct player is 1 point, you'd have a higher percentage of people on average losing points rather than gaining any. 

Having spoken with Liam, we think having a cap of 4 players per park is a middle ground. That way you can't just pick the bottom 6-7 players on each team every round for guaranteed points, you'll have to choose the mostly likely people you think built.

 

Round 1 will remain with the current rules for all match-ups as we're halfway through already. The rules will be updated accordingly for Round 2 onwards and could be adjusted until then based on response - if you guess 4 players correct but 5 or more players built on the park, you will still get the bonus points for all your choices being correct. This won't apply to people who guess only 2 or 3 players however.

Time for the first Standings Updates and match results!

 

First up, R1M1:

 

Radio Park Tbilisi: the top guess here was alex by a wide margin, with 78.3% of players correctly guessing his involvement which comes as no surprise, having carved out a distinct style. Nearly 40% were correct in guessing roygbiv while only a few guessed Ulvenwood. Liampie was the largest outlier with 39.1% believing he was on the park with alex.

 

The Royal Institute for Extradorindary Biota: Jene was the overwhelming guess here with almost 70% of players choosing him. I think his recent spotlight may have had a hand in this as he showcased some very nice manicured landscaping, despite not being involved in this map. The next most guessed players were AJ- (43.5%) and Tolsimir (34.8%), so it's not a total washout. Steve was only guessed by ~11% of people however despite his larger share on the park - was the lack of Steve Trees a red herring perhaps?

 

 

Next we have R1M2:

 

Lostileth: The top guesses here were quite accurate, with over 70% correctly guessing ottersalad and ~40% guessing myself. CC9 (32.4%) was the third most guessed, with Kumba, Terry and Congoy tying for fourth (26.5%). Levis was low on the count - no doubt a more hacky park may yield more accuracy for him!

 

Troubadours et Baladins: This park saw the most guessed single player of all, with close to 90% of people correctly putting Babar Tapie down. Following Babar is MK98 with nearly half of players guessing correctly. RWE and Six Frags are close behind, perhaps indicating the European setting and detail-packed style being influential. Lurker (8.6%) and Louis! (5.7%) were in fewer guesses however.

 

 

Last up, R1M3:

 

Constellations: This park had quite a variety of players submitted, with 7 names appearing in at least a quarter of guesses. Carrying the lead is J K, who shows up in almost 60%, while Jens J. appear in the second most number of ballots. The next group are fairly even, with mamarillas, Iretont, Robdedede, Hex and Camcorder22 all being quite spread out among guesses, though all of them were incorrect. Deanosrs appears in ~20%, likely thanks to the plugin talk (though not a direct indicator of involvement, much like object making), and SSSammy and CHE only show up in 2 ballots each sadly!

 

Hell: Josh was accurately guessed in over half of the entries and Mulpje comes in second with over 40%, which should yield points for many. Ethan, Gustav and Hobeon were even among the guesses but again all wrong (though I wouldn't have blamed anyone for guessing Ethan, seems very much in his wheelhouse.) The final correct builder, Maverix, was less accurately guessed and only appeared in 3 ballots.

 

 

Standings Update: Round 1

 

 

After the conclusion of Round 1 we have the first points totals in, and chorkiel is the first leader with 12 points. Following up close behind are Scoop, dr dirt, Mr. Brightside, JK, Kumba and AVC all tied with 9 points. It'll be a close race in Round 2 and plenty of points to catch up to the leaders! None of the guesses for this round were totally accurate however. Perhaps the switch-up in the rules with regards to player point allocations will make it harder as people aim to bet on more names than necessary to get as good a chance as possible to gain a couple of points?

Round 2 has begun, and so begins a new round of Guess The Builder! A slight rule update for round 2 onwards:

 

There is now a cap of 4 players per guess on each park. This is to prevent deliberately loading your guess with as many low-point players as possible in order to get guaranteed points.

 

With regard to the bonus point rule, if you guess 4 players correct but 5 or more players built on the park, you will still get the bonus points for all your choices being correct.
