    ROTFLMAO!!!!

That is the single most hilarious thing I've seen in video game history. http://www.tothegame...reen=1859&pic=4
Check out the, uh... thing. I'm not sure what that exactly is... an evil satyr? I dunno.

At least it has shadows. I mean, THAT'S detail. :yup:
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
Oh yeah, and Toon, it looks like you're gonna have to change your name.
  • CoasterkidMWM%s's Photo
I think all they are showing is the Greek theming as of now. They ARE pleasing the games general audience, which we are not, so I'll give them credit for that.

    Evil bastards... :@ :@ :@

Some folks were saying the screens were fake,,but someone posted a link to the Atari Italy site:

    RCT Pasta-phazool

I attempted to translate the copy using BabelFish...which doesn't do that great of a job. This is what i got out of it:

[QUOTE]You have constructed the more incredible attractions, the larger parks to topic and in the remote and spectacular zones of the world. Now surpass the limits you set up from the time and constructed your park nell?epoca that to more it appeals to you. From the Prehistoric to the Middle Ages, you will be able to impress your visitors with the more evocative scenery being dipped them in atmospheres from dream. Eight scenerios more terrifying to make more money and magnify the your park to excess. [QUOTE]

[QUOTE]The second expansion of the fantastic Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. It needs of RCT 2 for being played. Newest acclimatizations in order to create parks to?storico topic. A graphic engine refined to the utmost for a game that turns perfectly on all computers. Infinite longevity: tantissimi scenes more and more engaged and the possibility to you to ahead carry just the park without time limits. [QUOTE]

I love the "graphic engine refined to the utmost".

In view of the content, I'll forgive your spelling and grammatical errors, since you didn't say something stupid (though you said it in an uneducated way :p).

Basically what's happened to RCT is that the original design team has moved on to other things and so the new objects being created are not in the same style as the original objects were. This is a serious problem for any game when the various peices of art or sprites or whatever do no fit together well. You do have to consider though that these games are not made for us, they are made for the good ol' GP. And just like amusement parks don't always add what coaster enthusiast's would like them to add, Atari is aiming these expansions at what they think the GP will buy. Perhaps they think the RCT name is enough to sell any shitty product they put out. Perhaps they think people want huge objects that don't fit the established scale of the game. Perhaps they think that people want 'themed coaster cars' instead of new next-generation coasters. Whatever the reasoning, I think we would be mistaken to think Atari cares at all about RCT's fans.

On a more practical note, I'm still not sure that boycotting the game is the right way to go. Before you jump on me, I should say that I wouldn't dream of paying $30 for Atari's refuse but I don't think we should crucify people who do. There are a number of objects from the original game that I never use. Never. There are a lot more objects in WW and TT (who comes up with these names? jeez) that I wouldn't ever use but is it worth it if there are a half dozen objects I can use? Think of how many themes have been made out of 6 different objects arranged in different ways. I probably won't ever buy WW or TT and both are laughable products. Still, I'm not sure it's right to banish the two games from the RCT community all together. I'm just not sure that's all.

so instead we watch a beloved game die?

Atari doesn't care about the customer, they care about thier profits - so hit them where it hurts and make them listen. :|
  • Coaster Ed%s's Photo
Actually, I think it's pretty clear at this point that it's already dead as a product. The only worthwhile additions now are coming from the community not the game developer. There may never be another RCT game worth buying. It certainly would take a completely new business strategy by Atari or a buy out by somebody who actually cares about the franchise.

The point is, as a community we are far too small to make a dent in Atari's sales plan. People may not buy TT or they might. Either way they have no idea that we exist and don't care whether we boycott or not. Whether TT sells well or flops is entirely dependent on the general public, aka the people who don't know any better.

what i dont like about WW and prolly this is that there sint really any interest in opening up the given scenerios anymore. I remeber in rct1 especially playin the real scenerios becuase it was so fun to look at theres. there was always somethign cool already there and now with WW some fuckin rookie puts in some gay shit for the scenerios
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
Hey you silly people, in case you haven't noticed, there's awesome custom scenery pumping in, and we're on the verge of making good rides...cracking the limits may be next. So pay no attention to this drek.

    ...I like this word 'drek'.
