General Chat / Sea World Tycoon

Just landed on the shelf at my local Target, so of course I snatched it up before it had a chance to gather any dust! This is the game that we were hoping Wild Rides would be, manage your own waterpark, in the classic isometric tycoon game perspective, with the added bonus of an official Sea World license! Who knew? Activision Value has surprised us again!

This one has it all folks, scenario AND sandbox modes, so you can play by the rules or make your own rules! All three real-world SW parks are featured: Sea World Orlando, Sea World San Antonio, & Sea World San Diego! You build your own rides, attractions, exhibits, shows, buildings, etc., including the coasters! Journey to Atlantis, Kraken, Great White, Steel Eel, they're all there! Although unfortunately they're not terribly accurate, so you'll probably be as disappointed as I am that they're only park-map-style representations of the real thing. I guess they didn't think it really mattered, since it's not supposed to be about the coasters, but still you'd think they could've tried a little harder to make them accurate!

Anyhow, that gripe aside, the rest of it is everything you ever hoped for. Fantastic graphics, and all the animals that you could want, including the world famous Anheiser Busch Budweiser Clydesdales! Now how cool is that? You get Shamu AND some good brew! Who could ask for more? It's like Zoo Tycoon meets Roller Coaster Tycoon, and yes the graphics are much more like Zoo Tycoon than they are like Roller Coaster Tycoon 2! No cheese-fest here kids, this is the real deal! We OWN Sea World parks!

OK, now let's review: Sea World Tycoon, published by Activision Value, developed by Deep Red, only $20! I found mine at a Target store, but I haven't seen it at any other stores yet, and I got one of only two copies they had. Better run out there and find it before all your friends do first!

Although Kraken looks a little weird, you can just build your own version. I might get it. It seems pretty interesting.

I want it! Badly! I don't care whether or not it looks true to life or that the rollercoaster looks wierd (I actually kind of like it), because its fucking Sea World! I try so hard to create these things in RCT - but now, I don't have to! So pretty... so wonderful... so perfect...

Looks pretty nifty - looking after all the pretty animals etc. I'm crap at sim games though - I always run out of money.

This is a dream come true for a lot of peeps...... Zoo Tycoon mixed up with RCT! The rapids ride looks great. A lot better than the ones in RCT. I just might order this.

Just wished RCT were like that in the beginning, the details of each objects are unexplainable.....

It's okay. You don't actually get to build the coaster or rapids. They're just pe-determined building you place on the map. In my opinoin, it's not that great, but that may just be because my computer screen goes on the fritz every time I try and play it. Oh well. I Love Seaworld!!!

Yeah. IF they do make rct3 then I hope they intergrate Zoo Tycoon into into it aswell.

How is gameplay, though? Are you just placing all prebuilt stuff, or do you get a chance to exercise your own creativity in an extended way? Can you make your own rapids rides, for example, and have different layouts, or is it just placing stuff around?

Either way, the graphics are amazing. Also, I doubt it, but is there any sort of 3D perspective mode? Just wondering. The game looks very nice, though.

What happened to the rest of the layout? That coaster looks like an animated version of a park map. The coaster layouts are always all distorted like that on park maps.

Is that a prebuilt ride, or did you make it? Are you allowed to make your own coasters? It does look like a coaster you would see on a park map though.
