I have the 8 cars per trainer and i think i have got to grips with it but one thing that pzzles me is that i have seen people on this site making river rapids rides with no track and the rapids boats flot on the water along a river. Can someone please tell me how to do this as it has been annoying me for a long time.

Build the rapids. Zero clearances. Raise the water. Restore clearances.

Here's a tip. Zero all clearances doesn't work on the section of the rapids that slopes down. What I mean is that if you are going straight, and you are going to slope down. The first piece of track transitioning from straight to slope will not be zeroed. Instead, put one of Couger's sloped waterfalls there.
