I just got the dvd, and I must say it is awesome. They have a section about the history of Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland (Best ride ever), which was show in 1968, which it shows the entire ride. A lot of features. Very cool.

The movie is one of the most fun of the year, but best DVD it is not... not while the Two Towers 4 Disc Extended Edition came out 2 weeks ago. -

That movie, essentially 9hours in length, each section being 3 hours in length, is long enough. Why do you need four DVD's with extended and extra scenes when the movie is already too long?
Perhaps this came from my dislike for the trilogy, yet it is just way to long, and this second edition with 4 DVD's is excessive and a cheap ploy to increase already overflowing profits. -

Pirates of the Carribean was awsome.
See it, Sfgadv, you wont regret it.
I saw it the day it came out and am still gonna buy the DVD and VHS.
The movie has great actors, Jonny Depp (sexiest man alive w00t!), Orlando Bloom (a little lord of the rings!), and Keira Knightly. Also, Jonny Depp has some funny lines, but the plot is also suspenseful. All in all, great movie.
I give it 9.5/10 stars -

Being too long is a matter of opinion, and most (including me) don't think they are too long. That movie, essentially 9hours in length, each section being 3 hours in length, is long enough. Why do you need four DVD's with extended and extra scenes when the movie is already too long?

Except it's not. There are two versions of the film, and there is no wool being pulled over anyone's eyes. From the beginning, everyone knew there would be two versions, and none of the features would be overlapping. The 4 disc set is for people who love the films and want to delve as deep into them as possible. The extra scenes are not neccesary to the story, but they improve the pacing of each film and add plenty of extra character development that could not have been fit into the theatrical cut because of the extreme depth of the world that JRR Tolkien created, also theaters and production companies do not like to have films longer than 3 hours because it is detrimental to the maximum earning value of a film. It's not excessive if there is a frothing demand for it. Releasing a new edition of Terminator 2 every 6 months is excessive (what are there, 6 different T2 dvd editions?).
The fact that you dislike the films in the first place really gives you no objective position to call it excessive.
Aside from that, the 3rd and 4th disks is the most comprehensive behind the scenes look at a film than any other DVD has ever offered. -

On a sorta-related note, I just saw Finding Nemo, finally.
It was pretty good. Just, not as good as everyone makes it out to be. -

What have I started!
See, it's not that I didn't like the movie. I did. And the quotes were great. It's just the plot that I found to be weak. Not to mention, for a G-rated movie, there's a shitload of parts that could traumatize some poor little kids.
