the pictures aren't copyrighted, so if you make objects out of the image its pefrectly legal. Anyway, copyright doesn't really mean anything unless you try to sell your objects for a profit.
And i think i know what koaster_king is doing for the pro tour video game coaster contest! -

there's loads of nintendo stuff on the rc2db. search for it, i've got mario, waluigi, yoshi and stuff.
