The latest addition from me is this water tower. It looks good in most city-dwelling RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 parks.

I've been at it again! I've worked all day on the farm, and wanted to show you a little bit of my life in the form of the windmill located right outside the farmhouse.

I like the shape of the windmill, but without any shading or highlights the colors look a little flat.

Speaking fo shading, the skull looks about right, but the heart is hightlighted from the wrong side.

The water tower isn't quite right either. The light looks like it comes from the front.

Shading, highlights, and texture are what I think make an object look "RCT" or not. This looks like a mixed bag.

    Cool ideas, though.

You really have to do a few things if you want to move into the upper echelon of object makers.

#1) Set up a lighting system in whatever modeling program you use that matches RCT2's inherent effect as closely as possible. This means the light coming from the right with a slight downward angle. Once you have the main lighting angle correct, add some secondary lights to create the exact look you want to make it look like rct2.

#2) Watch your scale. One of the biggest complaints about WW was that many of the objects were way out of scale to the game. It is a game and things can be slightly out of proportion, but when you start talking about bi-planes as tall as trees I think there is a problem.

#3) Texture. Most of your items are very flat and boring looking. This could be solved with adding some textures to the models, but you should also consider doing some pixel editing to your final images in a paint program. One of the major things I don't like about your objects is the transitions of light shading. You have left the lines very distinct which to me looks terrible. Due to the limited colour palette in rct2 you have to blend the shaded areas together by dotting pixels. If you don't understand what I mean, look at the curved walls from the game and see.

Overall these objects show you may have some promise, but they need a ton of work if they are really going to look good in the game.

Thanks guys, I'll remember the lighting thing.

Remember, I'm just starting out, so these are VERY helpful. Please keep 'em coming...

Im no expert on making custom scenery, but the proportions really need work. The ideas you have are cool, but like TT said, the biplane is way too big. Also, shading and lighting like everyone else said. In the case of the windmill, it needs to be shaded the right way to look good, the whole thing can't be 1 shade.

Anyway, if you really want help, listen to what TT said. He is the best object creator out there, i have trouble telling his items from the game items sometimes.

You're off to a good start tho.
