RCT Discussion / Having Some Problems

Okay, a few problems with "both" trainers. First, and most important, Dragons v.5.0. When I try to bury rides, I get this pop up that basically says error, and it lists some numbers and letters. Now here is the really weird part. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I can't bury shops or stalls, or roller coasters sometimes, but even though I get the error, ghost trains can be buried. As for the beast, this is in a different, empty park. When I try to stack the "glass" cubes, the beast just won't budge them. Can you not stack these? I thought you could, I did it in Comic Quest. All help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how to solve this problem, but do the trainers detect the correct version of RCT. The correct version number will be the one located in Rct File > About 'RollerCoaster Tycoon'. Then the dragon trainer just says the version number detected at the bottom on the window, and the beast says something like 'current mode test on version numbers......' in the about window.
Just make sure all the numbers are the same.

Also, you are clicking on the rct.exe that has been patched with the dexler patch right?

Finally those letters and numbers are hex values, there just a way of representing binary stored in the RAM, I've done quite a bit of hex editing so I might be able to tell you what they mean if you could be bothered to write them down. It's just I know a few errors that can be caused by editing the values and the trainer might have performaed one of these.

I know this isn't a great help, but I've never seen any error messages other than the error trapper in rct.

The dragon problem only happens in one park. Here is the message I get:

Access violations at address 0040728F in module 'RCTTRAINER.EXE'. Read of address 9C00067F.

That was what I got for trying to bury a pizza stall in the middle of no-where.

Sorry to hi-jack your topic nate but I have had a problem for a long time now along the same kinda lines as your stacking one where the Beast just doesn't perform the hack.

Whenever I try to disable the height restrictions on rides it says it has worked but never does. Is there any way of fixing this? I have downloaded the trainer again to see if it was a fault with the version I had and nothing changed.

Well the address 0040728 will be in the game map. So if that is the land, then the 8th byte (byte F) would be the indentifier of wether the land is owned/unowned etc. I think it also has something to do has something to do with the map boundry, but that wouldn't be an issue in the middle of nowhere.
But you say it will bury some rides so I guess that it will be the ride element, well byte F is the ride index and I can't see how that is a problem unless you have used winhack to make multiple rides into one, or something similar.

The best solution to solve a problem in the map is just to open it in the savegame modifier and then save it as something else, as it seems the SV4 structure is completely re-built regardless of what has been changed.
But the data at the address 9C00067F wouldn't be anything to do with RCT as it doesn't use anywhere near that much memory. ???

Maybe try using the Dragon IOA v6 Beta, see if that can do it.

I tried the SGM, and it kind of worked. First, it didn't get rid of the problem of the error comming up when trying to bury with Dragons, BUT, it did allow me to bury shops, even though the error still came up. The major problem is that the SGM really screws up a whoa belly tower that I spent a week or two working on. I mean it really screws it up. For example, half the tower is shifted one 'square' away from the base. It's hard to explain, but very annoying. Any other suggestions?

Does everything after the tower get displaced?
I kind of had that problem before. It rendered fine in RCT, but in RCTGL everything after a particular cell was displaced by one square. The problem I had was that there were two pieces of land in one cell, it had just appeared after I had been intensively hacking this particular square. So if the SGM compiles the map in the same way as RCTGL, then maybe it also seperates these two pieces of land out, causing that wierd displacement. I'll try and find my save game where I had that error and then use the SGM on it to see if I get that problem.

Edit: I found my corrupted save game, but the SGM didn't cause any odd displacement.
However I think it would be worth checking to see if anything else gets displaced, and if there are any land glitches (eg-land missing) around the tower.

Other than that I don't know what to suggest.
