General Chat / Apocalypse Now

I just watched Apocalypse Now and it was immense. The scale of it was so big, and it really was full of suspense at the end - and the final credits with the silent explosions kind of made me just sit and stare.

    Really good film.

Er...'Apocalypse Now'. The film by Francis Coppola based on Heart of Darkness mixed with the Vietnam war...

Er...Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, Marlon Brando...

    Good.

Exactly what I was going to say.

    Very good film indeed, mantis.
I should watch that one again...
    And Scarface too...

Theres also a redux version, tacking on another 45minutes. Brilliant film, probably one of my favourites. Duvall is brilliant, especially the surfing scene. A great quote is:

You either surf or you fight.

    Along with my personal favourite:

Saigon, shit, I'm still only in Saigon

    The one EVERYONE knows is:

I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

Breathtaking, this and Platoon with perhaps Full Metal Jacket pretty much sum up what good war/action films should be about.

    And remember,

    Charlie don't surf!!

I love the film, and I thought the Redux version made the whole thing make a lot more sense. I've watched it 3 times now.

I'll have to check that Redux version out, although it made enough sense for me to realise what was going on anyway.
