RCT Discussion / Split Rides

How did Pawn make that coaster that splits the train?
  • natelox%s's Photo
i can only add trains, can't seperate them...i'm betting it started out as a mistake for him, but oh well.

I know how to do all the other merge things, but this just eludes me how he did it.

It's relativly easy to tell the truth...

All you do is build like 4 pieces behind the station straight but two or three things above the station, then converge track onto like the first or second out, make track connect to the 4 piece track outta the station, connect track to front of station, then upward launch, open it, and when it launches, half will go through the station and half on the track above the station. Sounds weird but it's really easy. I know Pawn could do it better since I'm rushing this since I still have HW to do.

here's a halfass drawing with the station being the straight track furthest to the right.

This is like the easiest thing ever I knew how to do this like ages ago But never decided to do a ride on it.

The reason it spilts is when it goes up the hill backwards it gets to the top. half the train looks like its on the inverted which it is in the end and half is not on the inverted which is why it spilts as the bottom half never went up far enough to think it was on the inverted track so it stays on the orignal track while the other half goes on the inverted.

If you all hacked it like he did and had a long train like he did you will notice this your self its very easy to do.

    God you're making this complicated...

Ok, create a vertical merge (as seen in both of the last H2H parks.) Simple enough. Provided the train only has enough speed to let half of it go up the vertical merge, it will split right in two peices, on the way down.

Once that happens, you can do all sorts of fun stuff, or not. But I still don't know how to make it reconnect.

lol CG...yea they complicate many things

Yea this is a very cool trick. I kinda forget how to do it but i think CG and X-Sector are right so there ya go.

Answer is: you can't make it reconnect. You just have to get it to go as close to the first train as humanly possible to give the illusion of reconnecting. They still are two trains, but act as one. If you notice, as you run the coaster several times, the trains slowly get further and further apart.

EDIT: Yes, Natelox, it actually started out as a mistake. I was fooling around with this weird type of boomerang-launched coaster on a mini-map that I was making when I came across this nifty trick and experimented with it for a while. I eventually scrapped the coaster, because it took up too much space, but I used the idea for BW.

Which, was a very innovative coaster.

Props to you for getting it that close together so it looked like one coaster. It must have taken ages to get the trains so close together that they looked like one. Is it not hard to have to make them the same speed, without the use of brakes?

The whole park was actually going to be based upon this ride, but I changed it as the last moment. Just a little tidbit of info.
