Whidbey Island. WA - An amusement park operator was killed Saturday when his hair got caught on a roller coaster car, pulling him up as high as 40 feet before he fell in Whidbey Island, Washington. Doug McKay, 40, was "basically scalped," sheriff's spokeswoman Jan Smith said....

What amusement park did this happen at and when? I live 30 mins from Whidbey Island and there are no amusement parks there. All we have is a Six Flags Enchanted Village located south of Seattle and it's been closed for the season.

I remember something that is just like this. A mechanic was fixing one of those super loopers and it started and his hair got caught and he fell onto a fence and died.

It's pretty unlikely that someone would have had a camera around.. much less taking pictures of it happening.

This story seems really familiar. Didn't a similar story happen in some traveling carnie a while ago? Some ride op. with long hair was working on one of those portable coasters, when the train came around, caught his hair, dragged him up the lift, scalped him, then he fell? I'm not sure, I could be an urban legend.

The guy was a carnival operator / owner and it happened at the Island County Grounds,.....sounds like a travelling carnival not really a park.....it actually happened back in August of 2003....but still, ouch!!

This IS that story of the guy who was working on the SuperLooper and got killed. Very, VERY old news.

Ouch! I remember there was a young girl on a show about hospitals once who had been driving a go kart with long hair, her hair got caught in the go kart's wheels and ripped a huge hole in her scalp. She had to have the skin pulled over it or something, along with some air bag thing in her haid for months to make the skin go back to normal.....
