I just picked this collection up and I must say that 2003 was truly a great year for the trance/techno/house/jungle scene.
Better than the shit we have now.

    Felix Da Housecat>Everything.

Oh, so it was good, then? I was thinking about picking it up but I wasn't sure about some of the tracks on it.

    Yeah, like Linkin Park!

I mean, I hate this particular genre of electronica, but to say everything "techno" is bad is just ridiculous.

Joe Satriani's techno stuff is cool.

2003 The best year for techno? I seriously doubt that. While, it was a good one, there's been far better years. At least the drugs are being cracked down on at the raves and such, but still, it surely wasn't the best musicly wise. And jungle's still in? I thought Tribal took over. I'm more of the Tribal Trance/Disco DnB person myself.

Anyone get Armin Van Buuren's MixMag a couple months ago with his CD? Now that has to be the best CD of the millennium, imo.

And by saying imo (more like typing it), remember, this is just my opinion, so yeah... as long as we get one thing clear, that the dance music scene still kicks ass, it's all good.

EDICITO!: http://www2u.biglobe...anky/layer3.htm download "party 4u 'holy nite mix' " great stuff. All the songs on that site actually.

Bring back 1999 where trance wasn't shit and commercially driven.
  • Rage%s's Photo
When I say I dont like dance music I mean I dont like the commerical shite thats just du-du-du-du all the way through. Artists such as Basement Jaxx, Aphex Twin and Prodigy I like. Id probebly like more ive just never realy scratched the surface.
  • posix%s's Photo
yeah, many people understand "techno" when they hear "electronica". yet the genre of electronica is very very wide and i'm all into it.
i agree with you, glitchwolf, felix da housecat is a genius.

Bring back 1999 where trance wasn't shit and commercially driven.

    Amen to that.

98/99 was stunning for trance, especially the euphoric tracks like Solar Stone's Seven Cities, which has unfortunately become commercialized through being put on so many fucking CDs. As has Gamemaster by Lost Tribe.

BUT, i did manage to pick up an awesome trance CD for 99p! It's 'Licensed to Thrill' by John '00' Fleming and each and every track is spot on, there are no fillers whatsoever. If you can ever find it, i suggest you pick it up.
Here's the tracklising incase you want to download some 'samples' ;)
    Lynsey Moore - Capture Me
    Sean Dexter - Mankind
Control 2 - Dreaming of You
DJ Sakin & Friends - Protect Your Mind (meh...)
Mash Up Matt - One Little Arab (Shit hot)
Jon The Dentist vs. Ollie Jay - Imagination
John Fleming & Russel Floorplay - Come On Baby
    Twisted Angel - Feel It
John '00' Fleming - Where Did You Get Those Pills?
    Lost Tribe - Gamemaster
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel
    Worms - Ice Storm
    Sleepers - Infinity 2000

Also, The first ever edition of 'Ibiza Euphoria' contains the un-commericialized trance from 98/99 and remains the best album i ever bought. :yup:

    lmao

    truly great http://images.google...otequal.gifbest

I like it all except for certain things like Tomcraft and DJ Sammy, which get overplayed and overhyped.

DJ Sammy i don't mind, despite the amount it gets played on the radio, and Tomcraft aren't that bad either.
But what i cannot stand is little teeny boppers listening to DJ Sammy and thinking they're suddenly trance fans. Same goes for them listening to Kylie Minogue or Sugababes and thinking they're into dance music.

    IT'S POP FOR FUCK'S SAKE! 8@

And we all love Scooter, right? ;)X
  • PymGuy%s's Photo
Big Beat/Funky Breaks still rock my world.

I still love Fatboy Slim, Prodigy (THEY'RE BACK WOO), Chemical Brothers...

Trance isn't too bad either, but to me it gets annoying fast.

    Shit...you seriously didn't just say that...ARGH!

I dunno what cds I have that i'd classify as dance music...Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, Leftfield etc I guess.

Just joking, Scooter would be OK if it wasn't for that complete mantis who keeps attempting to rap over the music.

"It's not a bird, it's not a plane. It must be Dave, who's on the train"
"I'm the junglist soldier, rocket launcher gonna stop ya"

    etc.
