Well, as you can see, the long awaited "Dragster Coaster" is finally becoming an RCT2 reality. Based off of the new for 2003 record-breaking attraction at Cedar Point, Top Thrill Dragster, the "Dragster Coaster" will allow you to build your own coaster with the same style trains used on Top Thrill Dragster.

Construction has been progressing, and the front car of the train has been built (as shown in the above teaser). Construction now starts on the rest of the cars, which are basic Intamin "super coaster" (giga, hyper, mega) cars. Once that has been completed, I will begin taking pictures for frames of the animation.

There is no date to expect this, and I'm not garunteeing any updates. Last time this ended up being a "how's the project going" when I got 10 e-mails a day asking that stupid question...

Have fun, and enjoy "Dragster Coaster"!

What ever happened to Dingo's Dragster? I thought his was practicly done... (This was over a year ago mind you)
  • CP Freak Jon%s's Photo
Dingo was doing Dragster and Volcano was doing Xcelerator, and they both quit because it was too much work... this one's been in my "work in progress" bin since they quit, and I've finally decided to pick it back up...

^Volcano quit because he lost everything..not because it was too much work..

I cant wait until its done. The nose is too round though..dragsters is a little more box like.

    Dont change it!
I saw a dragster just like that!

but what that I had seen was round every where!

Cant wait for it to come out!

I tried fixing that, and was looking at a few hours of work to do that. I just said "fuck it, it looks cool like this".

So, will you also be completing this? :p

Quite an ambitious project, but I would like to see you finish it. Good luck. :)

    SF

Yes. If you're also a member of the RCT2.com forums and have been reading the topic there, I have done a BETA test as a junior coaster car, and it looks really nice in the game. I can't wait to show off more of the ride soon!
  • Richie%s's Photo
So you have a screenshot of it that you could post? The only way we can comment on the car is to see it in game. Personally i dont think it looks that good in big. Too square and blocky.
  • CP Freak Jon%s's Photo
I'll save it for the really cool thing I'm doing with it right now to show you in-game... trust me, it's something you'll love.

BTW, the ride base for this is the steel 4-across hypercoaster (I think).

EDIT: Nope, it's not... it's the LIM coaster (yuck, more frames)
  • Xophe%s's Photo
It looks excellent, but I wish you were using the B&M/G-tec hypercoaster as a base instead. With that base it has chain lifts so you can do a realistic launch where the train gradually speeds up. With the LIM coaster it can only have one, sudden launch.
I suppose you could merge a lift hill onto it, though... :!!:
  • CP Freak Jon%s's Photo
Or you could build the ride using the B&M technology and place the LIM car on the track. ;)
  • Xophe%s's Photo
    Aha!

Soo..uhh..nice. I was expecting a test screen for the actuall ride.

But this is juicy enough to keep us busy. :D

Or you could build the ride using the B&M technology and place the LIM car on the track. ;)

And have the ride break down every 5 secs...

I'd put a bit of money on this never being finished though, it's just too much work for one person.
  • CP Freak Jon%s's Photo
It is a lot of work, that's why it's been under construction for a year now... it's hard work, but the outcome is nice.

    What happened to this.....lol

Eh, I would post an update, but making all the stupid little sprites is just tedious and boring, so there's no update.
