I think my friend prolly orgasmed over tonight's game. She's a huge Horry fan.

But man... oldest trick in the pressure point book, and they leave him OPEN?!?! Detroit's going stupid stupid stupid stupid!!!.

Spurs have this in hand, but Detroit is always dangerous when cornered. I'd bank on this going to seven, but I hope the Spurs put them out in six. :)

Ahhh....brings back painful memories of the Sacto series.

Exactly what i was thinking. *sigh*

Detroit is always dangerous when cornered.

Yup, but the Spurs have proven to be very good when it comes to closing out teams. That and if it goes to a game seven, the Spurs are pretty good in pressure situations themselves.

Anyone else hearing rumors that Flip Saunders will take over for Larry Brown if he goes to Clevelend?
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
    GAME SEVEN BABY!!

It's been a pretty good series. Four blowouts, but two per team, and then two very close games (tonight's final score is only due to Detroit getting fouled and pulling away at the very last 30 seconds.

Thursday will be crazy... we have the makings of a classic overtime thriller. Will Robert Horry save the day again, or will the GuaranSHEED come through? Will Manu tire? Will anyone stop Chauncey from driving to the paint?

    We'll see.

Will Tim Duncan make his free throws?

    ...no.
  • Coaster Ed%s's Photo
Oh yeah. Detroit gon' take this. :D

    Spurs won!!!! :birthday2:

Now I am going to go down to the riverwalk where the party is at. :)

Oh yeah, I really wish the finals were on TNT. I am tired of Bill Walton...
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
And people thought this series would be boring...

    way to go Spurs! :mantis:

Fatha predicted Pistons, but he lives in Texas. So is he happy or sad?

Game 5 ending would have been best for tonight in terms of drama. But San Antonio D'ed it up tonight. Congrats to the Spurs! My pick to win at the start of the season, and they showed why. :)

Now... who's gonna coach Detroit next year? :D

In other words, Detroit has no chance of getting to the Finals for the next however-long-he's-there-for... :D

    (given Flip's track record)
  • ekimmel%s's Photo
Yeah, there's a reason why the Wolves have a new coach who's likely going to fire all the assistants.

Well, San Antonio outplayed Detroit for one quarter last night, but it was the one quarter that mattered most. I thought Detroit looked like the better team for most of the night though. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were just awful. Well maybe not awful, but they were bricking shots all over the place. It was Ginobili and Bowen and Horry that won that game. So San Antonio got their title. Bravo. It was a good series, but I still can't stand watching San Antonio play.

That's funny. If Detroit was better for "most of the night" they would have been celebrating on our court.

    Ya' hear that?

    OUR COURT!!!

    HAHAHAHA BITCHES!!!!!!

I just got a new bike a couple days ago, and we were riding up and down "the drag" here last night on one wheel, it was crazy, if you saw a hot girl you could just pull over and pick her up.

    "Will wheelie for titties."

It was crazy in this city last night... let me tell ya!

Well obviously SA played a better fourth quarter. That makes them the champions this year, but it doesn't necessarily make them better than Detroit.
  • Corkscrewed%s's Photo
In a series that went to seven grueling games, I'd say it does. If you don't step up when it counts, how can you really be called "better?" That's why the game is played. Things on paper mean nothing, or else Seattle never would have won the Northwest this year. And Flip Saunders might still be coach of the T-Wolves.

Well obviously SA played a better fourth quarter. That makes them the champions this year, but it doesn't necessarily make them better than Detroit.

This is still the dumbest argument in the book.
This series was for the NBA championship. There were seven games. San Antonio won four. Detroit won three. San Antonio won more games than Detroit. San Antonio wins the championship. San Antonio is the better team. Period.

If Detroit was the better team, they would have stepped their games up.
  • Coaster Ed%s's Photo
Hey all I'm saying is that when you enter the fourth quarter of a deciding game seven tied, the difference between winning and losing is not nearly as big as the word "champion" implies it to be. That's all I'm saying. San Antonio won, the history books will be written, and everyone will start coming out with their reasons why San Antonio was just better and Detroit couldn't get it done. That's the mainline interpretation. And if you ask me, one or two shots bounce a different way, and the roles would be reversed. If that makes San Antonio the "better team" for you, than fine. Believe whatever you want. I don't believe in simplifications. I know what I saw and the truth of the matter cannot be simplified into 'winner' and 'loser'.

PS - It's hard to take anyoen seriously when they speak in cliches like "the dumbest argument in the book". I've yet to see that book, and I doubt I ever will. Nor can you really compare any argument with another and come out with a list of which are the "dumbest".
  • Jellybones%s's Photo
The "Its not whether you win or lose its how you play the game!!!" argument was nice in Little League. This is pro sports. I give Detroit credit for being a great team. But they are not better than the Spurs. This series was close, but San Antonio didn't win because one or two bounces went their way. They won because they outplayed the Pistons. It was close, and they didn't outplay the Pistons by much, but they did. Therefore, they are the champion. They were the ones who achieved the ultimate goal. Not Detroit.
