I also agree that designs should not get a spot in the finals for the very reason stated above and so we don’t have prelim rounds like this where we have just one entry. The good thing is that Deano’s entry was a quality park that could have won anyways. I also understand you want to give some of the non-prelim winners a chance at the finals. I can understand that as you may have someone really into their design or park and may not have the time to enter in a few of the prelims. The solution is easy. You have the “Bonus spots” which are given to those that you feel deserve to be in the finals based on completed work or prelim entries. Who is to say you can only have 2 spots open. Leave it to your discretion and not limit yourself. As it stand right now, you can only bring in 2 people. What if there was a three way tie for this (in your opinion), who are you going to leave out? I for one would respect 4 people getting a bonus spot in the finals vice 3 people getting in based on a design as the spirit of the “Competition” was not impacted by the entry.

Fully agree with your ideas as well as the ones of James: seems a bit of a queer idea to let in design-winners while they won their design in the time of the prelims.....not having to compete with entrants/avoiding the competition of the prelims, and moreover: why just the ones that won design in the prelim-times and not the ones that (sometimes with far more impressing designs than those last 3 designs that got in) just won it before....
Can understand that "the more the merrier" plays a healthy role, (although also a bit devaluating the whole theatre) but again, where is the limit then and why not design-winners from last 6, or 9, or 12 months also....

I would, but my final fight will take all of my efforts. That's why I dropped the adventure ride. I've got something big (literally) planned for my Wildcard.
But here's the Go-Kart ride. The Go-Kart National Speedway presents the Fantasy Cup.

And the stadium. I used pathway to make the seats look smaller, and the stadium bigger. The second track is the pit lane, while the small building is the pit garage.
Of course, it's only 10% done at most. The race was to take place in a western style town, a haunted crag forest, the icy Himalayas, and an area where the driver is "micro-sized".
BTW, congrats to deanosrs! Good luck in the finals.
LOOOOl!! ^That´s a good one....if a contest that is supposed to be top of the tops is feared to take away some of the other activities (which should be logical imo.....) then turn it around....?? Is not that trying to have a bit of everything (so leveling out the overall-thing) and not daring to keep things for what they are.....
It anyway does not answer my question/ puzzlement for the "silly" limit why designs etc from some months ago (of which some possibly were far better than, or at least as good as the last ones turned in) are not getting a free ticket into PT also.....
Nevermind, we'll just see and enjoy.....

I think the reasoning behind the decision is perfectly sound, although of course the rules themselves are not prefect and never could be.

That way we know who all the non-parkmakers are who are qualified; of course all parkmakers are qualified but that no guarantee that everyone will enter. Of course I will because I feel partially responsible for the downfall in productivity here at NE and as a parkmaker it's my duty to make kick ass parks to keep the community alive and inspired. Sadly I've failed in that role lately, but I'm hoping to bounce back here soon...

Metro, I was going to put that in the readme but I couldn't remember who I'd suggested the idea to! I think we planned to do Diddy/DK duelers then, was absolutely ages ago and I don't even think the H2H draft even counted. I've probably started this idea about 5 times, it was a huge relief to get it finished.
^ fully agree on that, (that's a healthy reason as I already said, although I personally would have chosen other ways to get more people in, but that is not important) And it will be awesome if this could bring in a lot of -quality- entries.
Was only wondering why it just applied to designs/ru's etc within this time-limit and not to equally good ones or even better ones from last 6 months, or 12, or whatever. Not very relevant either, for every time-limit you choose will be arbitrary and elicit a discussion (if you say "6 months", then we will start discussing "why not 12 months" and if you choose 12 months, then...., etc. etc.)
So it is like it is now.
@ Deano: viewed it in the meantime and liked it a lot . Very nice adventure ride. Great timing with all those mine trains and though I sometimes lost track of them and had to review it, that was while being a looker/outside viewer, while I am sure that being a rider on it, it would be the greatest of fun and adventure!
Would have loved some exciting buildings and archy in there also, not for the sake of just buildings, but to add even more to the adventure-experience of the ride, but you already explained why they are not there, and without them the ride is still a good one, so that's a really strong point and kudos on that!
Pity yes, that you were the only one to send in this round, but I guess you would have had a very strong chance of winning this round even if some others had been submitted.
So congrats again, and looking forward to your entry in the finals.

As for the parkmakers who have a spot, I’m still on the fence for the finals however it is at least a possibility now with the extended time frame. (thanks Kumba)
Right now though, I’m having way to much fun to put the Marriott project on hold for that long as I really want to get MMW released in the next two months. This is the most fun I have had with the game and I don’t want to loose that desire. That and I don’t have a concept of what my entry would be however, I do think about it.
